I’ve been debating about whether or not it’s okay to write a new post, because I don’t want to diminish the importance of yesterday. If you came here looking for my 2,996 Tribute Post, PLEASE scroll down to the post below this one. If you wrote a tribute, please leave the link in my comments.
I’ve also been waiting to show the photographic evidence of just how my husband lost his dang mind last week, and went hog-wild at Best Buy. He came into a small inheritance, and after taking care of bills and property taxes, he decided to embrace his inner geek and treat himself (well, and us too) to a new TV and home theater. And an Xbox 360, because our “old” Xbox was wearing out. There were WHOLE MAPS on “Halo 2″ that didn’t even work. It was a real problem, I tell you. We really did need a new TV, ours was pretty old and the color and sound were going, and our stereo system was ancient.
So, first we went to Best Buy. I took my camera because I knew I was going to get a good post out of this.
Then Chris picked out his home theater system.
And finally, the piece de resistance, the 42″ Flat Screen TV.
And this morning, Kaitlyn marvelled at the “Ralph’s World” characters who looked almost as big as her.
Chris says there’s a way to hook up the laptop to the TV. So I could read all of your blogs on a 42″ screen! I could do a gallery of photos-see your blog on the big screen! Oh, I am so doing that.
More to come this week-tomorrow I am having an eye exam and picking out some new glasses, suggestions on a style would be welcome. These cheap-ass Wal-Mart glasses I’m wearing now are so scratched up, I can actually see better without them.
And Friday, I am having lunch with GingaJoy! Mmmm, Panchero’s, home of the One-Pound burrito.
Hope everyone has a good week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNSTER!!!!

Awww…he looks so happy in that picture, standing next to the TV. A man and his electronics…lol And Katelyn is just plain adorable. Tell Gingajoy I said hi and have a great time
God only knows what I’d spend a small inheritance on. Books? Shoes? Some new black pants? Here’s a question: Given the same amount of money to blow, do you think men spend more on large and expensive objects and women tend to get as many small objects for the same bit of money?
I just know I would probably not buy a big tv. Having said that, I would TOTALLY clap my hands and do a little dance if Mr. Half decided to indulge. Is that wrong?
Let’s just say for the amount of money he spent on the electronics, I could have taken our whole family to Macy’s and bought each of us a completely new wardrobe. I could have flown us all to Hawaii for a vacation. I could have remodeled any room in the house.
But, it was his money, and that’s what he wanted to do with it. I knew it would be wrong to tell him he “couldn’t” buy the TV.
You move ONE MORE time and you realize I’m within my right to kill you, rah-eeeett??
That said, he looks so proud parent of that TV …not that I blame him. It’s beauteeful.
ps. love the new look/colors. very easy on the eyes.
Jeff was all about the large flat screen too but I have to admit once it went up on the wall, I could see why.
For glasses, how about some smaller squarish frames in a darker color like tortoiseshell?
I was in Austin, TX in 2002 and I had the most awesome burrito at a restuarant I can’t remember the name of – but Panchero might be it. Is it a chain?
I’m super jealous at your new system! Our TV is so old at this that the guy who installd our PVR/DVR said it was too ancient to run the technology. D’Oh!
Do they really have a burrito that weighs a whole pound? (Trust me to zero in on the food.)
When we moved here, Kyle finally got the home theatre plus flat screen TV he’d been begging for. I have to admit it’s kinda cool. I’m mainly impressed that Kaitlyn isn’t touching the TV. How’d you train her to do that?
Just had to delurk because I, too, have a husband who succumbed to the lure of the flat screen TV/home theater system. I resisted the purchase as long as I could on the grounds that it was fiscal insanity, but a windfall that came his way made that argument not so compelling (at least to him!). I hope you are all enjoying the new screen!
