Taking it One Day at a Time since 1996
11 Oct
I saw the doctor today. She was very nice, and pretty, which is always a little disconcerting to me. I guess I expect doctors to be old, grey haired men. Her orders were pretty much what I expected: 150 mg. of Wellbutrin XL for 30 days and then a recheck.
AND, she said get back on Weight Watchers and STICK to it. In other words, no more eating the 22 points between breakfast and dinner and then eating another 22 at night while watching tv. Dammit.
Oh, and she suggested that I might want to start exercising, because apparently you can’t lose weight just by sitting around on your ass all day. So FINE, I have to actually do what I already know I need to do, and not just think about doing it.
And now, in honor of Ryan’s birthday, here’s a retrospective of the last ten years. Starting with Chris and I and our first few minutes with our new son:

That’s my mom’s hand in the foreground. I was so shaky from the epidural that I had about twelve of those heated blankets on me. She was pulling them back so the baby was actually visible.
Age one, our little cutie pie.

Age two, meeting his new baby brother:

Age three, getting so big:

Age four:who is this little man, and where did my baby go?
Age five, my helper, my buddy, my friend, my son:
Next time-ages 6 through 10.

I have the same thought about doctors. They are supposed to be old men. I happen to have a hot guy doctor about my age. It threw me off when I first went to him. Almost like I didn’t want him to know I had medical problems, so I didn’t tell him anything. He’s the one who found my cancer, so now I tell him everything. He’s a genius and I am totally in love with him (you know in a doctor/patient kind of way).
Your “baby” is adorable! I can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures!
Wanna be exercise buddies?
Well, that post certainly burst MY bubble!
You mean I HAVE to exercise? Damn. How about if I just sit on my ass and walk across the living room floor ~~~ doesn’t THAT count even a little bit?
I’ve tried the Wellbutrin. To quit smoking. Didn’t work. I’m interested to know, what IS the difference between that and the Wellbutrin XL?
Beautiful boy … er, little man.
I’m starting to think the doctors might be right about that exercise thing. I’m getting so big, when I want to haul ass, I have to make two trips.
Been waiting for you to visit since the summer! Let me know when you want to head east on I-96.
In your previous entry I very much got a laugh at “Each boy ate approximately one-sixteenth of a burger, one serving of chips and one baby carrot. And a frosted cookie, of course.”
The chrono pics of #1 Son are neat.
Thanks for cheering up my day
happy birthday Ryan (lovely boy!)
yes–get back on WW! You’ll feel better:) Also, I do recommend the real meetings if you can swing the cash–they can be a tremendous motivators. Right now all I do is sit on my ass and eat (no water aerobics for me. one class was my limit apparently). But come January, I will need a buddy to help me stay on track with calories and exercise.
Happy birthday Ryan!
And I’m glad the doctor’s visit went well. I really hope the Wellbutrin helps.
I’m getting more and more wistful looking at those baby pictures…….bringing home babies……new babies.
Man….I can’t believe they stop being babies.
I knew they WOULD……it’s just hard to deal with some days.
My own dad said to me “Man are you 38? I can’t believe you are 38….I was only 23 when you were born, that seems like a million years ago but also like yesterday.”
I think he’s right.
And doesn’t it suck about the working out bit?
I’ve been drinking Odwalla smoothies for lunch and breakfast. They’re only like 3 points depending on which ones you get.
They are very filling and very good for you.
And this allows me to EAT LIKE A HOG at dinner and be good for breakfast and lunch.
I see Ryan as such a mix of you and Chris.
Happy decade of parenting!
