I wasn’t expecting THIS to happen…

Author: Elizabeth

I have completely lost my taste for cigarettes!! Can you believe it?? People can take Wellbutrin to help them quit smoking, but it never had that effect on me. But something about adding the Lexapro to it has, I don’t know, kick-started that part of Wellbutrin that curbs nicotine cravings. Two nights ago, after the kids had gone to bed, I lit a cigarette and took two puffs, and it was…wrong. It didn’t taste right, it wasn’t enjoyable, so I stubbed it out and haven’t had one since.

So, I’m no longer screaming at my kids, I’m actually sleeping at night, AND I’ve quit smoking? Lexapro, I LOVE YOU.

I read somewhere that sometimes people smoke because their brain is missing a chemical (dopamine?), and that when it is replaced with the antidepressent, they don’t need to smoke any more. Good for you!

Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things I’ve done. I’m so glad you’re reaping this extra benefit from adding Lexapro plus the sleeping and not yelling. That’s fantastic! Congratulations!

That is wonderful! I quit smoking in December and I still want a cigarette sometimes, but my boyfriend has been really supportive. He quit too! Good luck and you can always write if you have a craving and we’ll all talk you out of it!
