In a year and a half of blogging, I had yet to create an “About” page. I sat down to write one, and soon realized that I had the makings for one of those “100 Things About Me” lists. I had a lot of fun writing this, I hope you enjoy reading it!

ALL ABOUT ELIZABETH:

THE BASICS:

I have three children-Ryan age 10, Nathan age 8, and Kaitlyn age 1.

I have been a stay-at-home-Mom for 8 years.

It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had!

My husband Chris and I started dating in 1985.

We didn’t get married until 1993.

Because my parents kept trying to break us up.

After our first child was born, my Mother admitted she *might* have been wrong about that.

We are still crazy in love with each other.

We also drive each other crazy on a regular basis.

THE CHILDREN:

When we first started dating, neither of us wanted to have children.

Then in 1995 I found out I was pregnant, even though I was on the pill.

It turned out to be a blighted ovum-an egg that gets fertilized but doesn’t implant.

Chris and I were devastated, and realized we wanted to have children after all.

Six months later we conceived Ryan.

As soon as I saw Chris holding Ryan, I knew he was going to be an amazing father.

I was right.

BLOGGING:

I started blogging in August of 2005.

I wanted a place to record my memories of my life.

And a way to remember the things my kids do.

Since I have never been able to keep a baby book.

I was eight months pregnant with Kaitlyn when I started Table for Five.

I was hoping to find other Mothers to share my experiences with.

I was SHOCKED when I got my first comment.

She is funny and wicked smart and you should read her blog.

My blog readers helped me get through two months of bedrest.

And they were there for me when I got very, very sick with a stomach virus a day after her birth.

THE VIRUS:

I caught the stomach virus from someone at the hospital.

I had just had a c-section and a tubal ligation.

Having to throw up when your stomach is full of stitches really sucks.

I had to be NPO for almost three days.

That means that for three days, I could not eat or drink anything, not even water.

It was HORRIBLE.

When the throwing up stopped, the virus started affecting me from the other end.

If you know what I mean.

For ten days, I could not be more than a few steps from a bathroom.

I had to leave the hospital after five days for insurance reasons.

Bastards.

MY DAUGHTER:

My daughter was born on Nov. 18, and the first time I held her was Nov. 26.

I remember because it was Saturday, and I woke up before my husband.

I changed her diaper for the first time that morning.

I fed her a bottle of formula for the first time that morning.

I fell in love with her that morning.

I tried to breastfeed her, but the lactation consultant said my body was too traumatized from the virus to make milk.

I tried to pump for weeks, but nothing came out.

I don’t feel guilty about that at all.

She is healthy, and smart, and cute as heck, and that’s what matters.

BLOGGING PART TWO:

I am pretty addicted to blogging.

I have three blogs, pages at three other sites, and author privileges at 451 Press.

There aren’t enough hours in the day to keep them all updated.

I love being part of the blogging community.

Blogging has brought me new friends, new skills, new ideas.

And a little money.

And some free stuff.

I think it is awesome that people will give me things in exchange for my opinion.

I think it’s even more awesome that people will give me money in exchange for my opinion.

But mostly I blog so I can remember what my kids were like at this age.

THE BOYS PART TWO:

I wish every day that I had started blogging when the boys were younger.

Because there is so much about them that I don’t remember.

Like exactly when they said their first word.

Or started sleeping through the night.

You’d think I would remember those things anyway.

But I don’t.

MORE ABOUT ME:

In 2007, I turned 40.

Which makes me middle-aged.

I still feel like I should be in my twenties.

But I don’t have anywhere near the energy I had in my twenties.

If I tried to go out drinking and dancing all night now, I would never make it.

The drinking would make me fall asleep.

The dancing would make me pass out if I wasn’t already asleep.

I’d rather stay in and watch TV or movies.

TV AND MOVIES:

I love “Heroes” and “Battlestar Galactica”.

I love “24″ and “How I Met Your Mother”.

I like all the Law and Orders and all of the CSI’s.

Well, except for CSI: Miami. David Caruso really bugs.

My favorite chick flicks are “When Harry Met Sally” and “You’ve Got Mail”.

I also like Science Fiction.

My recent favorites are “Aeon Flux” and “Ultraviolet”.

I love scary movies, but my husband doesn’t.

I have to wait for them to come out on DVD and watch them when he isn’t home.

My favorites are “Thirteen Ghosts” and “28 Days Later”.

Horror movies have gotten a lot more gory lately.

I don’t think I could ever watch “Saw” or “Hostel”.

Too scary even for me.

I’m looking forward to the next Harry Potter movie this July.

It comes out right before I leave for BlogHer.

BLOGGING PART THREE:

I can’t wait to go to BlogHer!

Everyone who blogs should go at least once.

It’s not just for women bloggers, either.

Imagine 700 people all in the same place, who all “get” you.

It’s an amazingly empowering feeling.

It took me two weeks to come down from it after last year.

I plan to continue blogging for as long as I can.

Or until blogging morphs into something else, if it ever does.

It’s hard to imagine something better than blogging.
