Drop by for coffee at your OWN RISK.

By table4five | April 13, 2007

At some point in the future, I am going to be the featured guest on Mommybloggers, which is a huge honor. I was sent questions to answer for the interview portion, and one of them was something along the lines of “if we dropped by unexpectedly for coffee, which room would be off limits because it is too messy?”

Which ROOM? Singular? Are you kidding me? I would like to answer that question with a little photo essay I’m calling “Why you should NEVER just drop by unexpectedly”. Let’s pretend…

DING DONG! Oh crap, is that the doorbell? Hang on, I just have to pull the dog away from the door. Oh! Hi! Um, come in! How are you? Would you like some coffee?

How about a muffin to go with it? No, it’s no trouble, they’re Betty Crocker.

So…um…I guess you want a tour of the house, so…I’ll…um…show it to you. This corner over here is where a dining room table could go, although we eat in the kitchen.

And on the other side is the living room. Let me just get my husband’s clean pajama bottoms off that chair for you.

Oh, you’d like to see our bedroom? Um…okay.

Oh, bed’s not made…oh, you want to see the kids’ playroom? Right, it’s just back here.

See, there’s Kaitlyn, still in her pajamas, at…Noon. Right. Hey! Let’s go OUT for coffee, yeah! I just need to change my clothes. Why? Because I’m still in my pajamas. At NOON.

AND…Scene. Do you see now? I would like to meet each and every one of you in person, but I really think it’s safer if we just meet at the Mall. Call me!

You’re going to featured on Mommybloggers?! Cool!

And your guests would be too blinded by the cuteness of that little girl to notice anything else. Not that the room is messy, I’m quite impressed actually.

ummm, ya… way cleaner than mine too… and pjs at noon? dude, we don’t get out of pjs all day! what’s the point?! one day my father in law came over unexpectedly and he was in SHOCK that the kids were still in their pjs!

  6. Jess - 04/13/2007 at 2:57 pm

    Hmm. Muffins.

I still want to stop by for coffee.

  7. Karen - 04/13/2007 at 3:00 pm

That is so cute! I love all of your pictures. Your little girl is adorable.

  8. Erin - 04/13/2007 at 3:24 pm

Congrats on the Mommybloggers thing. You DO rock! :)

Currently, my daughter is wearing a shirt. Oh, and a diaper that is sagging around her knees. The living room is trashed, our bed isn’t made (love the quilt, btw!).

Sooo, to sum up: your pictures don’t scare me. I’d still love to drop by for coffee (but I’d totally call first).

If I remember correctly, you’re in Lansing, right? If so, my Dad and stepmom live in Howell so we COULD actually get together when I come out to see them next month. If’n you wanna…. :)

Ha ha…it’s 4:23 and guess who is still in her jammies? Yup.

I’ll come over in them too! I want coffee! :D

Hmm. Your house makes mine look positively dump-like.

Congrats on your future Mommybloggers post!

Wow, it’s nice to know I’m not alone! We’re an “all-day in PJ’s” family here too. My toddler and I only change into jeans if we’re going to the store or the park. After that, it’s right back into the PJ’s!

And your mess? Looks clean compared to mine :(.

  12. Karly - 04/13/2007 at 7:24 pm

I love you. I think you should turn this into a meme type thing and dare the world to post pictures of their messy house. Then we would all know which losers actually clean their houses and not to be friends with them anymore.

Stupid people with clean houses. Who do they think they are?

  13. Robin - 04/13/2007 at 7:29 pm

Nice pics, did you just happen to have a pic of the muffins or did you make those today? lol
My husband totally is used to me staying in jammies all day but he gets all bent out of shape when I don’t make the kids get dressed. Hey- it saves on laundry, which then in turn saves on energy and he is an electric miser, always walking around complaining about what’s left on around the house. He actually thought that when we got cable internet, I was not going to leave the pc on all day??? Yeah right.

One more thing while I am being so chatty tonight, I am in Michigan too!
Happy Weekend and congrats on being featured on Mommybloggers!

Congratulations on Mommybloggers!! And you are so incredibly brave for posting pics of your house. That is the way things typically look around here, too, and I’ve actually hid from doorbell-ringers because I was too ashamed to let them see my messy living room. At least you have muffins to offer your guests!

  15. Lisa - 04/14/2007 at 9:44 am

Hehe! Your house looks like mine. Except I don’t have any homemade muffins sitting on the counter. Congrats on the interview!!

  16. Jenny - 04/14/2007 at 10:55 am

My bed is never made! And the only reason my house is relatively clean right now is because I’ve known for the last two days that my inlaws are coming over today! In fact they will be here in just over an hour and the bathroom is still a mess! ITA with others… at least you have muffins!

  17. Suebob - 04/14/2007 at 2:10 pm

I love you and your house. It looks real and like real live people live there. People who aren’t all cranky about making a mess. The kind of people I like.

    Mommybloggers - congrats. Too cool.

  18. tori - 04/14/2007 at 4:09 pm

Tell the truth, did you clean up before you snapped those pictures? If not, then I would say you have nothing to worry about!

I am often in my pajamas after noon. I have even driven my kids to school in my pajamas. Quite possibly I have even gone to the post office in my pajamas.

  19. fairly odd mother - 04/15/2007 at 7:06 am

Hilarious! I have a friend who always asks, ‘are you guys dressed yet’ when he calls b/c he knows we are a bit slow in the morning. And, your house looks fine. And, I’m totally impressed with the muffins. Congrats on Mommyblogging!

  20. Bev Schweigert - 04/15/2007 at 7:25 pm

LOL! How true!!! I never show up at anyone’s house without calling first, and I always hope and pray no one does it to me either!

    Congrats on the Mommyblogging interview!

    Bev
