I got a new Plugin and I LOVE IT!

Author: Elizabeth

I have a friend named Owen, he’s a fellow Postie, and he likes to find ways to improve our blogs. He has hit the ball out of the park with his Comment Email Responder Plugin. That’s a fancy way of saying that now when you leave a comment, I can click an icon next to your name and leave you a comment that will appear here on the page and also come to you by email! How cool is THAT! If you are interested in getting it for your self-hosted Wordpress blog, click this link here. I get my comments emailed to me, as do most people I think, and I tend to just reply to comments that way instead of here on the site. Sometimes I say things to people in a comment and then wish that I had said it in the post as well, you know? Now you’ll have your reply here as well as in an email.

SO, make sure when you leave your comment that you are leaving me a VALID email address. If I start to get a lot of Mailer Failure Notices, I WILL get grouchy. Thanks!

Well Melissa, you could always join us over here on Wordpress! I can hook you up with a great hosting service that is very reasonably priced if you’re interested! :)

    Very cool!

Jennifer! Come over to Wordpress! I will totally help you set up your own domain, and just think how much shorter your blog URL would be! LOL

That’s a great idea — I often have that dilemma of
“should I reply by email or in the comments.” Clearly I am not the only one!

    Cathy,
It really is a great Plugin! Thanks for stopping by!

Is it hard to install or just like other plugins? Do you have to give it SMTP settings or does it use the WordPress engine as usual?

  10. table4five says:

    Patrick,

It’s installed just like other plugins. After you activate it, you go to Dashboard–>Options, and there’s a link to the Comment Email Responder page. You fill in what name you want to appear under Sender, your email address, what you want to say in the subject line, and a footer message. That’s it!

I haven’t figured out the footer message part yet, I’m not sure if it’s just regular HTML or not. Thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment!

It ought to be on Blogger. My Journal is rooted there, sadly, and Wordpress looks too complex!

Pretty cool! But since I am #1 on Blogger and #2 get very few comments on my blog… my friends at Maya’s Mom leave their comments there instead…

But I think it’s cool that you can do this!

Thanks for this! I’m going to install it on both of my blogs right now. I so so need this plug in. Hope you’re having a great Sunday!
