Have you stood in the skincare aisle at a store lately and tried to figure out which products to buy?  It’s ridiculous how many choices there are, and they all claim to be the best, the most miraculous. I’ve been having weird skin problem since Kaitlyn was born, probably more connected to turning forty than to having her, and since then I’ve been reading the labels on cleansers, toners, moisturizers, and serums, trying to figure out just which one of them to buy.

What I really needed was advice from a skin care expert who isn’t afraid to tell you what is hype and what is real. SkinRevision is a blog written by a Cosmetic Physician who  emphasizes skin care based on science, not hype. For example, just about every facial cleanser claims it does something besides clean your skin-reduce wrinkles, clear up acne, decrease the signs of aging-but here’s the truth:

“• It is meant to clean the face of dirt, makeup, sunscreen, pollutants.
• It is meant to prepare the skin so when you put active ingredients and moisturisers on, they will be absorbed.
• It is put on and washed off.

Paying for a cleanser that claims to have active ingredients such as AHA, or BHA or vitamin C, you are paying for it to be washed down the drain.”

Pretty interesting, huh? And, it makes a lot of sense. Buy a basic, gentle cleanser and save your money for more expensive treatments that stay on your skin and actually work. SkinRevision is a blog that I will be returning to again, especially the next time I’m in the market for a skin treatment. I really appreciate getting honest, no-nonsense advice on skincare.
