Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Author: Elizabeth

In 1983 I was a Sophomore in High School. I had a Spiral Perm, I wore teal eyeshadow, and I was in love with a band called The Police. I had a boyfriend who had his hair cut just like Sting, and boys were wearing Members Only Jackets just like the band. We used our Hi-Fi stereos to record cassette tape copies of their Albums and passed them around at lunch. EVERYONE I knew was crazy about The Police. I had been too young when Outlandos d’Amour came out in 1978, but by 1980 and the release of Zenyatta Mondatta, you couldn’t turn the radio on for more than a minute without hearing “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” or “De Doo Doo Doo, De Da Da Da”.

Ghost in the Machine came out in ‘81, and spent 17 weeks at #1, because of hits like “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”. You’re talking four MONTHS where this was the biggest album in the country! By the time Synchronicity was released in 1983, The Police were a part of every day life for me. Which is why now, 24 years later, I am SO EXCITED that The Police are going on tour! Squueeeee!

In conjunction with the tour, Universal Music Group is releasing a new police cd, a 2 Disc set of 28 classic tracks:

10. Walking in Your Footsteps
11. Synchronicity II
12. King of Pain

14. Tea in the Sahara

Now, as if that wasn’t awesome enough, Universal Music Group has partnered with PayPerPost to help spread the word about the tour and the CD, and has given PPP ONE HUNDRED CDs to give away to Posties! I’m just about hyperventilating here thinking about how badly I want one of the CDs, which also comes with a wicked awesome vintage Police concert poster, and some cool PPP gear. You can see the vintage poster and a cute photo of Ted and Britt holding some CDs here at the PayPerPost blog.

So, to whomever at PayPerPost is reading this-ooh, ooh, pick me! pick me! Why should I be one of the lucky CD recipients? Because I promised my husband that I would start an exercise program to get in shape and be healthy, and this Police CD will be PERFECT for listening to while I’m on the treadmill, exercise bike, elliptical trainer, or just walking around my neighborhood pushing Kaitlyn in her stroller. And because listening to these songs that I loved for so many years will help me feel young again! LOL

In the comments tell me, do you plan to purchase the new police cd? Did you grow up loving the band like I did? The POLICE! On TOUR! Goosebumps!

LOVE The Police! As a college student, I bought every album (well at that time they were cassette tapes). When Sting went on his own, I bought every album (CDs by this time) – even his spanish language albums. There is nothing like The Police or Sting played on a great speaker system. I will be buying the ‘new’ release! Can’t get enough of the police! Cheers!

I have a question for you about making money on your blog, if you don’t mind emailing me. Specifically, I was wondering what which advertisers you liked best and if there is a way I can tap into some of them. You have a lot on your sidebars!

I still LOVE the Police! I graduated in 1984, had my Members Only jacket among other goofy eighties trendsetter goodies! I was sent here because you are a shining example of how to blog for PPP. I can see why; your writing is enjoyable!

    Hi Lani,

I’d be happy to talk to you about making money with your blog. I’m in Chicago this weekend at the BlogHer conference; so if you could do me a favor and email me on Monday, at elizabeth@table4five.net, then I will be able to put together some recommendations for you. Thanks!

    Hi James,

Thank you for that nice compliment! I am in Chicago this weekend, and PayPerPost is here as a sponsor. The people I have met from PPP are really terrific, and it just makes me love being a Postie even more. Thanks for coming here to read my post and for leaving such a nice comment :)

You can’t imagine how a shy girl feels. The music and words are haunting ! Sensational ! So scary! Still lovely, this is an ever green song I love to have it in my collection.

I can imagine hpw a shy girl feels. I am one and have been shy for most of my life. I find it very difficult to talk in front of a group. Blogging gives me the anonymity I need.

I don’t recall having hear of The Police.

Hey Elizabeth:Loved your blog and you should know that i, too, love the Police and their work- but sadly I didnt catch on to the true extent of their musical genius until 1995 or so- till then, I was kinda turned off on them by “every breath you take” being played on the radio like every 5 minutes or so. “King of Pain” had an effect on me, but it wasnt until “every little thing she does is magic and Roxxanne” that I was finally sold!! Good blog, though. ~regards, Thomas :-)

My brother and I used to love the police. Teal eyeshadow and spandex are back in. You should give it another try. It would be “Totally Rad & Awsome!”

I am a huge fan of the Police! I would love to get this collection for hours of great listening. If you get time, I am just getting started in the PPP blogging world and need some help with the process. Take care.
