Last week I wrote about a road trip I took to Battle Creek when I was in college, and how it ended with me getting into a very serious car accident. Battle Creek has an interesting history, it is the birthplace of Kellogg’s, where one Kellogg brother ran a sanitarium-in those days, that meant a place where rich people went for holistic therapy like saunas and other treatments-and where the other Kellogg brother invented Corn Flakes! Another unique place in Battle Creek is the Stone Hawk drug rehab center, which also uses holistic treatments to teach skills necessary to overcome drug addiction.
Stone Hawk uses the Narconon program, which is completely different than traditional drug rehab programs. Instead of treating the addiction with more drugs, Stone Hawk’s patients, known as students, go through a treatment that consists of exercise, saunas, and vitamin and mineral supplements to assist in the detoxification of the drugs from their system. Stone Hawk also uses an education program with eight courses that the students move through at their own pace, only moving to the next one when they have demonstrated competence in each course. These courses assist the students in developing their own personal values and ethics needed to maintain a drug free life. Stone Hawk’s 70 percent success rate makes them the most successful in-patient program in the country!

“Heroes”-WOW. What else is there to say about that besides WOW. All season we’ve known that Peter Petrelli was going to blow up New York with the power he got from Sylar, but not once did I think that the show would end the way it did. I won’t say anything else because I don’t want to spoil it for my West Coast readers, but trust me, WOW.
The last episode of “24″? Meh. This season was not one of my favorites. There were so many characters, it was hard to keep straight who was involved in what scheme with whom, and they lost me when it became more about the White House than about CTU. I miss Tony Almeida! I hope next season is more interesting.
Now we’re watching the season finale of Law and Order Criminal Intent, and hey! It’s the actress who played Lindsey on “The Practice”! I like her. Have you heard about what’s happening with Criminal Intent next season? It’s moving to the USA network, for the whole season. I thought USA only showed reruns! Good thing I have a DVR and can set it to record the show so I don’t forget. What about you? What shows are you watching, what ones won’t you miss? Will you watch “Big Love” in June?

It’s easy sometimes to forget about just how many needy people there are not only in the world but right here in our own country. Nonprofit organizations work tirelessly to improve both communities in general and the lives of those people. International Profit Associates Charities identifies those nonprofit organizations and supports them in their quest to make a difference, and helps them reach new levels of assistance. Employees of IPAC generously volunteer both their time and their talents.
Organizations helped by IPA Charities include Mothers Against Drunk Driving, The Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity. They also support Global Medical Research that works to save lives, including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the American Cancer Society. IPA Charities should be proud of the work they are doing, and how their philanthropic efforts are helping fight disease, improve the quality of education and improve the lives of so many people.

Back on May 1st, I wrote about some contests my friend Shaz was having on her site, and that I had entered to win a diaper changing pad. Well, I won! It came in the mail in the most beautiful package, from Bella Sera Baby:

Inside was the changing pad folded up, and another pretty business card. Such beautiful attention to detail!

I unfolded it, and the changing pad is so big it took almost my entire couch! Yet it folds up to about the size of a legal pad. You can see the pockets at the bottom to tuck in a few diapers and a travel pack of wipes.

I’ll be tucking this into the giant tote bag I carry all summer, to use when there isn’t a changing table for Kaitlyn. I’ll let you know how the fabric holds up after I’ve washed and dried it. Thanks again so much to Shaz and to Bella Sera Baby for the beautiful gift!

Sure, you’ve found the best quality diamond rings, but that’s only half of it. I know that the engagement ring might seem like the most important part, but finding the wedding bands that you’ll wear every day is just as, if not more, important.
Thanks to Danforth Diamond, you can find both in the same place, and you can be sure that they’ll both be the high quality that we’ve all come to expect from Danforth Diamond. Their selection of palladium, yellow, and white gold wedding rings are the perfect compliment to the diamond ring you already bought, and I think you’ll be happy with the results.
