This is that mission I told you about the other day for the Linky Love Army-we are spreading the word about Picture.com, and their free photo contest! Every year, Picture.com sponsors the International Open Amateur Photography Contest to encourage new artists and undiscovered talent to submit their work for consideration. You may have never thought of entering a photography contest, but why not? If you have taken a unique photo in any one of these categories, you might win a prize for it! The categories are:
Animals/Pets
People
Travel
Children
Sports
Nature
Action
Humor
Portraiture
Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to tell one of your kids that their photo won a baby photo contest? Have you taken a unique photo at one of your child’s sporting events that might win the sports photo contest? Lots of people take photos of flowers in their garden, maybe yours could win the Nature photo contest!
The best part is, entering any of the photo contests is really, really easy. Here’s a screenshot of the admission form:
It’s just your name, address, and email address, and notice that you do not have to give a phone number, so you won’t have to worry about getting calls from telemarketers. Enter Picture.com’s Free Photo Contest, and you could win the annual Grand Prize of $10,000.00! The Grand Prize for each individual contest is $1,000.00. For each individual contest there are forty First Prizes of $35.00, four in each of 10 categories. There are seventy-three Second Prizes awarded regardless of category, and the prize is a gift with a retail value of $25.00.
In addition to the cash prizes, winning photographs are published in the International Library of Photography’s hardbound anthologies, which are registered with the Library of Congress and are available for order through retail and online bookstores and in libraries. Photographers retain all rights to their photographs. So not only could you win a free photo contest, but your photo could end up in a hardcover book of photographs! How cool is THAT??!!!
Now, I am the very definition of an amateur photographer, but once in a while I take an okay photo, so I’m entering the baby photo contest with this photo of a sleeping Kaitlyn:
I’m also entering this one of her at six months old, standing up by herself on the couch, in the baby photo contest:

Read through the categories again, look through your photos, and I bet you will find at least one that you want to enter in Picture.com’s free photo contest! Your baby, your dog, a sporting event, a flower from your garden-a photo of any of these could win you a great prize! So GO! Submit your photo to Picture.com, and then leave me a comment with a link to the photo so I can see it! I’ll write a follow-up post and show all the photos you submit, so you get a link from me and a chance for all of my readers to see your great photo! Good luck to everyone, I can’t wait to see your photos!

Hello and welcome to Table for Five! I'm Elizabeth, and this blog started in September 2005 as a way for me to participate in the Mommy Blogging community. I'm married with three terrific kids-boys ages 11 and 9 and a 2 year old daughter. Things I love include my family, coffee, Diet Coke, TV, reading, and Target.
Please contact me at table4five AT gmail DOT com if you would like to discuss anything I've posted here, place a text or button ad, send me a product to review, or provide a guest post. Thank you for stopping by!
I submitted one but it said something about a few weeks until I know if it’s been accepted? Anyway, I looked it up and found it here: http://www.picture.com/display.asp?ID=7210945 . It’s my old pooch Shannon. I think it’s the best picture I ever took of him. I tried to submit a second one but you have to wait 90 days to submit again.
Charlotte, that IS a good photo, what a handsome dog! I didn’t realize you could only submit one photo every 90 days, hmmm. I guess I’ll just submit the one of her as a newborn then.
That dog photo is good!
I entered one here.
Jessica, I Love that photo! I hope it wins you a prize!
I had a hard time trying to figure out which picture to pick from my trip to the Grand Canyon. In the end I picked this one, http://www.picture.com/display.asp?ID=7211051. Although, it also looks pretty cool in black and white.
Hi, I got to your website via a link on http://www.benspark.com. I’m glad I did or I wouldn’t have known about that photo contest. I entered one of my son from our recent holiday in Bali: http://www.picture.com/display.asp?ID=7226000
I’ve been enjoying the rest of your website too!
Mike- That URL doesn’t bring up a photo on Picture.com! Could you check the link again? Thanks!
Amanda- I’m so glad you came by too! That photo is adorable
I hope you will come back and visit me here at Table for Five again soon!
Ugh, I hate computers now, lol. Try : http://www.picture.com/display.asp?ID=2209658
Mike- That is a cool photo! I’ve always wanted to see the Grand Canyon.

OMG! I got a letter today saying my picture was selected to move on to the the semi-finalist for the Nature category!
I’m super excited!
I got that letter too, saying my Kaitlyn sleeping photo was chosen as a semi-finalist in the Baby category. Are you going to buy the coffee table book? I’m thinking I won’t, because then they will be after me every year to keep buying them.
Stacie- That URL didn’t work! What’s the name of your photo?
Does anyone have an update on the International Open Amateur Children Photography Contest? I also received a letter saying i was selected as a semifinalist, the letter mentions that the contest is being held in the fall of 2007. Just wondering if anybody else had newer information.
Any true photo contest that you have won should pay you to publish your pictures! It strikes me as a scam. I too was fooled by their ad.
I submitted a few of my pictures but i eventually stopped because once you submit the picture, it becomes there property and they can do what they want with it and not pay you a dime. But, for most people that’s not a issue and it’s worth it because you can win so much money.
