I got tagged by Alan at JAB-JustAbout Everything to do the 8 things meme again! I told him in his comments that he had to give me some ideas, because I have run out of things that I think are interesting about me. He suggested I do a list of favorites, which is great because as you know, I love telling people my opinion! So here goes:
MY 8 FAVORITE THINGS:
Favorite food: Spaghetti. With tomato sauce, with meat sauce, with alfredo sauce, I could eat spaghetti every day. Nothing makes me madder than going to an “Italian” restaurant and ordering spaghetti and meatballs, which any Italian chef worth his salt should be able to make with one hand tied behind his back, and having it taste bad. I ordered it at Carmelo’s in Lansing, who claims to serve authentic recipes just like Grandma Carmen used to make. Well, Grandma Carmen makes meatballs that taste like soggy, unseasoned meatloaf, and tomato sauce that is sour. It was inedible.
Favorite summer TV show: The Flight of the Conchords on HBO. No question, this is the funniest, most clever show of the summer. You would think that any show where the two stars sing at least one song per show would be cheesy, but just listen to these two harmonize and you’ll know why I love it.
Favorite new website: Oh, The Joys. Her tagline says “where every day is the same”, but in my opinion, every one of her days is funny as heck. She is co-hosting a welcome to BlogHer cocktail party, and I am looking forward to meeting her there!
Favorite perfume: “Heavenly” from the Dream Angels collection at Victoria’s Secret. It has taken me years to find a perfume that smells good all year round, and is affordable. It is America’s best selling perfume for a good reason. And it makes an excellent gift! (hint hint :p)
Favorite writing implement: Yes, occasionally I do need to write things by hand, since I am a compulsive list-maker. I absolutely abhor fine-tip pens, they make a scratching sound that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. After years of using Bic medium points, I bought a Bic Velocity pen at Staples one day, and that was it for me.
Favorite car I have owned: Our 1997 Chevy Cavalier. I LOVED that car, and it was so reliable, it started up every morning even on below-zero days, it got great gas mileage, and it was the perfect size when we were a family of four. Unfortunately the timing chain broke on it and it was going to cost more to fix it than we had, so we sold it to the mechanic. I still miss that car.
Favorite magazine: Vanity Fair. I always take the latest issue of Vanity Fair with me on trips, especially if I’m going to be flying, because it takes so long to read. Even though the first 70 pages are ads, they are really nice ads, and the rest of the magazine is so well written and photographed. I have the August edition with Shia LaBeouf waiting to take with me on the train to BlogHer.
Favorite CD: I have had this CD on constant play ever since I bought it at Target, it’s called Women and Song 2. It’s got Lisa Loeb singing “Stay”, Joss Stone singing “Right to be Wrong”, K.D. Lang singing “Constant Craving” (which gives me goosebumps her singing is so amazing), the Cranberries singing “Lovefool”, and a bunch more. I LOVE it.
So there you go, my 8 favorite things. I’m not tagging anyone this time, but please feel free to grab this meme if you need a post idea!
At least, you really have an idea of the things you like. I also love reading Vanity Fair! But best of all, a perfect treat would be a plate of yummy spaghetti. Your list of favorite things actually reveal how interesting you must be. =)
Thank you! I tried to use a wide variety of my favorites, although I have many more!
P.S. Now that you have become a regular reader and commenter, would you consider using at least your first name in your comments? I know your mother didn’t name you Marrakech Travel ![]()
Hey there! I’ve been out of town, but I’m looking forward to meeting you too!
