Busy day for me today, huh? So far I’ve reviewed a parenting website, a book, and now a website called Cellfish. I haven’t used my cellphone for much besides calls, but with Cellfish, I can upload anything from my computer to my phone, and then post it here with a link that lets you upload it to your phone. Cool!
Cellfish is free to join, and then you create your own page of video, Free Ringtones, and images. You store them in your own digital locker, and then you can embed them on your blog or send a URL to friends that lets them download the media to put on their phone.
I chose to use a photo I took, and I easily uploaded it to my Cellfish locker using a regular browse feature. I then copied the embed code and pasted it here, and it looks like this:
Now, if you want to put the image on your phone, click the little “send to my phone” icon in the bottom right corner of the image, and follow the instructions. I could have also used any free-to-share image from a website, or an image taken with my cellphone camera (which isn’t that great, so I didn’t use one of those). There are thousands of ringtones available, for free, sorted by musical category. I paged through the first 115 pages (35 songs to a page!) and saw everything from songs from “Rent” to Godsmack. I’m thinking whatever song you want, you can have. Free!Have fun with Cellfish, and feel free to grab this image I posted if you want to see how it works. If you see a photo I’ve taken on Flickr that you want me to share, just let me know and I’ll upload it and grab the URL for you. I have my eye on a new cell phone, a Samsung Synch, so once I get it, I’m sure I’ll be making much more use out of Cellfish.Edited to add: In order to use Cellfish, your phone must have text messaging capabilities. In addition, you do get one free ringtone when you sign up, then you have to buy them with “credits”. Click this link for the pricing page. Also, you will need to be a Sprint, T-Mobile®, Cingular (AT&T) or Suncom subscriber to buy credits.

This sounds good. My daughter is looking for ringtones for her phone. When I tried to sign up, it said it couldn’t verify my mobile network. Do you need internet access on your phone to use it?

Anna- I’m sorry, I should have said in the post that you do need text messaging capability to use Cellfish. I’ll edit the post right after this comment reply. Does your daughter’s phone get text messages? I looked in the FAQs, and to access the ringtones part of the site, the phone needs to be Sprint, T-Mobile®, Cingular (AT&T) or Suncom. I’ll add that to the post as well. Try sending a support email to Cellfish with your daughter’s cellphone number, maybe they can find the network. Good luck and thanks for reading and leaving a comment!
That is wild!
A useful review of the Cellfish, Elizabeth.
Thanks for the post. It’s true, you can play and share everything on your phone with Cellfish… And the best part is, it’s free. Come and check us out @ http://www.cellfish.com
