Well, at first I thought it was odd to be thinking about Christmas already, but then I realized that there are only EIGHT PAYCHECKS until Christmas-holy crap! That is SOON, people. Like, time to start actually funding that Christmas Club account! I was tagged by A New Green Earth, and these are the questions I had to answer:
What is your favorite Christmas gift?–I like getting new hardback books for Christmas, because I never buy them for myself.
What is your best memory of Christmas?–Nathan was born on December 21st, and I was released from the hospital the morning of December 24th. Because he was born early, no one had bought him any gifts, but my Dad ran out to the toy store that morning so that newborn Nathan would have gifts under the tree. We went to Chris’ Dad and Stepmother’s house for Christmas Day, and I was in a fog of exhaustion, anethesia withdrawal, and painkillers. I nursed Nathan right there in a chair in their family room, and then went and took a nap on their bed. It was still a great Christmas!
Depending on where you live, do you have a hot or cold Christmas?–If the weather cooperates, we have the best White Christmas here. I love when we get fresh snow just in time for Christmas, and when Christmas Day is bright and sunny.
Would you prefer to try the opposite weather at least just once? When I was a freshman in college, we went to Costa Mesa, California the day after Christmas to visit my sister and her husband. It was weird seeing the palm trees strung with white lights, and the shrubs sculpted into the shapes of reindeer. I like Michigan’s Christmas weather much better. It’s just more Christmasey to me.
What do you prefer in a tree? Fake or real? I used to think I liked real trees, but I hate taking the ornaments off and getting my fingers poked by dried-out pine needles, and how they drip all over the carpet and tear up the vacuum cleaner bag. Plus, there’s the whole fire hazard issue, so now we have a fake tree. I’m hoping to get a new one this year that is fuller and more “real” looking.
What is your favorite Christmas Carol? I LOVE “O Holy Night”. And hands down, my favorite Christmas CD is Rockapella’s “Rockapella Christmas”. It goes into the van’s CD player the day after Thanksgiving and stays there past New Year’s.
What is your favorite Christmas Dinner? Our family always does a Honey Baked Ham for Christmas, with scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls, and then usually a cake for dessert.
Do you wear a Santa Hat at Christmas? Um, no. But I have been guilty of buying those cutesy Christmas sweatshirts with the glittery designs on them.
Have you ever seen Santa delivering your gifts? Well, for the last 10 years I HAVE been Santa, you know. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it
And I really love the sugar cookies and milk I leave out for myself!
I’m adding this question–How does Santa get to all those houses in just one night? Easy. He has a fuel transfer tank attached to the back of the sleigh, so he can refuel without stopping!
I’m supposed to tag people, who wants to do a Christmas meme?

Wow — it’s still 90 degrees outside and Christmas already! Ouch!
I’ll do it too… probably not today.
Ooo, I’ll do it! I love Christmas!
Hardback books are a great present, Elizabeth. Have you thought about joing Shelfari? It’s an online book club, where you list your books. There are lots of small societies to join. You can also write your own reviews and have Friend Lists. I’m there under ‘Jean-Luc’.
What a great idea for a meme. Although it is a little hard to get into the Christmas spirit when it’s almost 90 degrees outside today!
