Remember when I posted about participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk? Well, I’ve been asked to be an official Team Captain and an official Memory Walk Blogger! I’ll be posting updates every day this week as I put up signs and fliers, recruit my friends to walk with me, and raise money for Alzheimer’s research!
Anyway, here’s the catch-Team Captains are asked to raise $200.00 in pledges and/or donations. So far, two kind blog friends have contributed a total of $30.00 to my Memory Walk fund. I can’t show up on the day of the walk (which is THIS SUNDAY!) with no donations! So please, please, pretty please, won’t you donate something to the fund?
This is for a really, really good cause. Millions of Americans are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, did you know that? When we first moved into our house, our next-door neighbor’s husband was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. It was really sad, because the whole family was so close, the daughter and granddaughter and great-grandchildren all hung out at the house, but poor Tony had no idea who they were. He unfortunately passed away shortly after we moved into our house.
So, I’m walking for Tony. And for all the people who either have or will get Alzheimer’s disease. There is no cure for it, but the Alzheimer’s Association is working on medications that can stave off the effects and help people live longer, and have less symptoms. If you can help, with any amount at all, I would be so grateful. Visit my personal Memory Walk donation page to make your donation, and again, THANK YOU!
