Blogging the Walk-Friday

Author: Elizabeth

As I mentioned previously, today was all about getting t-shirts ordered for us to wear on Sunday. I found a new little shop inside the grocery store called “Personalize This and That”, run by a lady who also runs Lansing Athletic wear. She’s been making shirts, sweatshirts and other items with school names on them for 28 years! I’m having the shirts made with this graphic:

and the words “Team Edwards” above it in the same font but in black. Simple, but I think they will look really good!

I’m excited to see all the other groups that will be walking. Sponsors for the event include Wal-Mart, Jackson National Life, Burcham Hills Retirement Center, and our local CBS station. I also did a Google search for any news about previous walks, and I learned that the MSU chapter of Sigma Kappa sorority is the largest fundraiser for the walk, they raise around $9,000 every year!

It’s been raining on and off for the last few days, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine on Sunday. We’ll dress in layers just in case, and I’m sure the walking will keep us warm :) If you are interested in finding a walk in your area, I found a URL that lets you search by state, it’s http://www.alz.org/apps/findusall.asp. Team Captains are especially needed, to organize groups of walkers and keep track of funds. Register early at the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk website if you want to be Team Captain!
