Blogging the Walk-We Walked!
The walk was FANTASTIC! It far exceeded my expectations of what I thought would take place. It started in a large field behind the M.S.U. auditorium, where there was a line of sponsor tables (free candy! free chips, apples, granola bars, and bottled water!), and then the registration area. For every $75.00 raised, there was a free t-shirt, so I got four free shirts! I met Alan Esper, the Development Officer for the Great Lakes Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, who was very gracious despite having so many people to meet and greet. And the weather was perfect.
And, after our very long afternoon and our miles of walking, I treated my family to the promised reward:

And finally, I’d just like to remind everyone again to please check the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk website for a walk in your area, and sign up to participate. It was a few hours out of our day, with some physical activity, for such a good cause. Everyone at the walk today was so positive, so friendly, and I could tell that everyone I met today involved with the Alzheimer’s Association was so grateful and appreciative of all of our fundraising efforts. I am so glad that I got involved with the Memory Walk. And I appreciate all of you, my readers, for your comments, support, and encouragement this week. I’m so glad my family could do this small thing to help fund such important research.

I’m so glad you had such a wonderful day! It looks in the pictures like the sun was shining, and that everyone had a great time.
Thanks, Jenn! The only disappointing part for me was realizing just how out of shape I am, when I was getting passed on the sidewalk by senior citizens. Clearly, I need to take up walking more regularly!
Good photos. It looked like a great fmily day out too.
Looks like you had a good time! I’m crossing my fingers that the weather will at least be slightly warm when the diabetes walk rolls around in October.
Well done on that achievement, Elizabeth. There were some great pictures. The ‘Team Edwards’ T shirts look good on the family.
Amanda-Thanks! And it was nice to do something as a whole family, even if my youngest son was kind of grumbly about the whole thing.
Jennifer-Thanks! We did get really lucky with the weather. Also, I did the Diabetes walk in Spring of 1998, I remember because the walk completely wore me out to the point where I went and saw my doctor, turned out I was pregnant with Nathan!
Graham-Thanks! I was so happy with the way the shirts turned out.
You and Chris are so adorable together in those photos! And dude, when did Ryan (right? I’m sucking at remembering which name goes with which boy) become taller than you? I’m not looking forward to that day myself.
Aww, thanks Lanna! And this summer, Ryan grew about 3 inches!
I am compiling my comments because I have to get everyone ready for bed.. I’m reading backwards. My dad’s father had Alzheimer’s.. and he isn’t the first person in our family - he’s just the one I had the most (and most heartbreaking) experience with. What a wonderful cause to get involved with.
On a different note, you look fantastic. You look gorgeous, you have a healthy glow, happy and I can tell everything is paying off.
HUGS and LOVE
Holli, the next time I walk in a Memory Walk, I’d be happy to have your Grandpa’s name as the person I’m walking for. The more I learn about Alzheimer’s, the more I want to do to help raise money to find treatments for it.
And thank you for your kind comment! I was really happy with the way those two photos of me turned out, especially the last one with Chris and me and Kaitlyn. I was having a good hair day that day
Smooches to you and Faith, and don’t try to do too much sightseeing at once! Your poor feet are going to FALL OFF. Unless you wear those bunny slippers to the Washington Monument
Love ya!
