Gossip Girl

Did anybody watch the show Gossip Girl on The CW on Wednesday night? I missed it, but I’m hoping I can find a re-broadcast somewhere, because it looks really interesting! It’s the second show I know of this season where a character is blogging, the other is a show on Nickelodeon, although I think that one might have the character run a
website, not a blog. Anyway, Gossip Girl is the story of young a socialites growing up on New York’s Upper East Side who attend an elite prep school, and are surprised when their friend Serena suddenly reappears after a stint at boarding school. They learn about her return to Manhattan from reading the blog of ultra-secret “Gossip Girl”, voiced by former Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell.

Other characters include Dan and Jenny, middle-class kids who are always on the fringe, attending prep school at the insistence of their father, a former rocker turned art-gallery owner, who has a history with Serena’s mother, who is hiding her former years spent as a dancer and rock groupie. When Dan meets Serena, he finds himself immersed in a whole new world, much to the chagrin of his other friends. Oh, and the character of Jenny is played by Taylor Momsen, who you might remember as Cindy Lou-Who in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. If you go to the CW/Gossip Girl site, and click on cast, you might be surprised to see what Taylor Momsen looks like now that she’s all grown up. No buck teeth and crazy Who-hair, that’s for sure.

Gossip Girl is filmed in New York and is based on the young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar. I love Young Adult novels, I love blogging obviously, and I do love hearing gossip, although I try not to spread it here on my blog. I think this could be the next big show like The O.C. or Veronica Mars, so I’m keeping next Wednesday night open to catch the next new episode of Gossip Girl!

Allison-My hero! :) Thanks so much for the link, which came through just fine. I’ll probably have to wait until tonight after the kids are in bed to be able to watch the episode uninterrupted, but I’m looking forward to it. Thanks again!
