Ryan’s birthday isn’t until Tuesday, but this weekend we had five of his friends over for video games, dinner, more video games, cake, more video games, and forced bedtime at midnight.
I don’t have a lot of photos I can publicly post because I didn’t get the parents’ permission, but here’s a photo of the ice cream cake. The photo looks weird because Chris took it upside down for some reason. The cake is a layer of chocolate cake, topped with a layer of Moose Tracks ice cream, and covered with chocolate soft serve, then frozen. It was delicious!
I’m still trying to get used to the idea that this little boy:

Now looks like this:
I am so proud of the young man he has become, of his warmth, his compassion for others, his love for his family. He is so much like Chris sometimes it’s scary-he has the same ability to stay calm even when life is calling for a big freakout. More than once he has stood there watching me whirl around the living room like the Tasmanian Devil and gently suggested that I might want to slow down a bit-just like his father would. All I know is, if he does grow up to be like Chris, that would make me more proud than I can possibly express. I love you, Ryan!

Makes me all teary too - I don’t know how you’re holding it together hehe
He really is more incredible than words can say. I’m terribly proud just to be his Auntie and I haven’t had a thing to cause him to turn into the extremely incredible PERSON that he is. Be proud Elizabeth - You and my Tover have done a wonderful wonderful job. Now if he just wasn’t too big for his Auntie JJ to smother him with kisses he’d be perfect!
I cannot imagine my little guy becoming a big guy like that!
Happy Birthday though to him! …mine is on Thursday

The Egel Nest
Sissy-He’s never going to be too big to smother with kisses
I have to stop and hug him at least once a day, even if he is taller than me and I have to stand on my tiptoes to do it LOL
Bradley-Thank you! Happy Birthday to you, too!
Isn’t it wonderful when you get a glimpse of the person your child is going to be? Especially when you see the good of you and your husband.
The cake looked yummy!
I hope he has a great birthday!
Jenn-Yes, it is easy to see Ryan as an adult, especially when all of his closest friends come over and I see what good kids they are. If he doesn’t stray off the path he’s on now, I see great things in his future. *Sniff*!
Happy birthday to Ryan, Elizabeth. Good set of pictures.
He looked so much like Kaitlyn as a baby! And he must be taller than you now ;o)
Thank you, Graham! I’ll pass that along to Ryan!
Tammie-I’d have to put the photos side-by-side, but I think you’re right, toddler Ryan and toddler Kaitlyn are very similar. Which just goes to show how long you’ve been reading my blog, too
I don’t know how I missed this but Happy Belated Birthday. I know I am late sorry!
