Wayside The Movie-on DVD

Wayside-The Movie Wayside is a show my kids have been enjoying on Cartoon Network, and it’s wacky and fun. Based on the best-selling books by Louis Sachar, Wayside is a show about Todd, a boy who shows up for his first day at a new school and soon realizes that it is not like any other school. For one thing, instead of being a normal school building, the building is vertical instead of horizontal. The rooms are stacked on top of each other because the architect was looking at the plans sideways!

At Wayside, the teachers and staff are as weird as the students. The janitor does everything, the cafeteria lady has a dead rat for a pet, the Principal is totally paranoid, and the teacher Mrs. Jewels throws Todd’s desk out the window for no good reason. Mrs. Jewels is voiced by Kathy Najimy, and Todd is voiced by Michael Cera, who “Arrested Development” fans know as the actor who plays George-Michael Bluth.

The movie isn’t rated, but it is appropriate for elementary age kids. Running time is 49 minutes. You might want to pick up one of the books at the library if you can find it, although from what I have seen, the character illustrations are quite different from the books to the movie. Louis Sachar is also the author of the book “Holes”, which was also made into a movie. Kudos to Cartoon Network for basing a cartoon on a book series for kids. If your kids like “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” or “My Gym Partner is a Monkey”, they will probably like Wayside too. My son Ryan gives it 3 out of 5 stars, Nathan gives it 4 out of 5, and I give it 4 out of 5 so the average Edwards rating is 4 stars!

Does anyone have the HTML for a row of stars?
