When I was in my Senior Year of college at MSU, I signed up for interviews with a few different companies, one of which was Hallmark. I remember very little about the interview itself, but they never called me back, so I’m guessing that although the only requirement was an English degree, they were also looking for someone with some kind of proficiency in art. Which I do not have at all.
If you know a high school (14 years old or older) or college student that does have artistic talent, The Gallery Collection is having a greeting card contest, with the grand prize a $10,000 scholarship. The Gallery Collection is a family owned business established in 1929, and they are the leading mail-order publisher of personalized business christmas cards. You
know, the ones that companies send each other during the holidays, that say “Happy Holidays from ABC Company”. The contest, however, is to create the best holiday card, birthday card or all-occasion greeting card. The official rules can be found on The Gallery Collection’s Scholarship Contest page, these are some of the rules:
The contest started October 1st, 2007, and ends January 15, 2008 at 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern.
This is the criteria that will be used to determine a winner:
1. Overall aesthetic appeal
2. Quality of execution
3. Creativity and Originality
4. Successful incorporation of design elements
5. Appropriateness for use as a greeting card
6. Attractiveness to The Gallery Collection’s corporate and consumer customers
7. Suitability as a design in Prudent’s Gallery Collection greeting card line
(see www.gallerycollection.com website for current designs)
Submitted artwork must be original, and can be any art, photo, or computer graphic design. What a great opportunity for someone with artistic talent, and with a prize of a $10,000 scholarship at stake, why not have a student in your family enter the contest?

Fenicle-Excellent! Wouldn’t that be exciting if a student you know won?
Wow I’m glad I saw this, Lou is incredibly artistic and in fact just was accepted into his high school’s graphic arts vocational program, which will actually give him college credit for classes he’s taking in high school. Seating is very limited and very sought after so we were very excited to hear that he was championed into the program for next semester when a seat opened up.
Excellent jobs, i like it
