I got the boys “Meet The Robinsons” on DVD, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I’ve been feeling kind of burned out on kids’ movies lately-if I see one more talking animal movie I think I will hurl. “Meet The Robinsons” is more like “The Incredibles” crossed with “Robots”, and although there are talking animals, they are a very minor part of the plot.
The movie is about Lewis, a brilliant young inventor living in an orphanage waiting to be adopted. He remembers his Mother, but he wishes he could remember exactly what happened the night she left him on the doorstep of the orphanage. For the big Science Fair, he invents a time machine that is supposed to harness his memories and take him back in time to see his Mother.
At the Science Fair, the experiment fails, but he meets Wilbur Robinson, who warns Lewis that the mysterious “Bowler Hat Guy” lurking around the Science Fair is actually there from the future to steal Lewis’ invention. Next thing he knows, Lewis has set off for the future with Wilbur in a time machine. There he meets the Robinson family, with whom he feels right at home.
I won’t give away the ending except to say that it is a happy one. I think this movie will especially appeal to kids who might feel like they are “different”, or who aren’t sure of themselves. Lewis learns that it is okay to be who you are, and to keep persevering even in the face of adversity. And those are lessons that everyone can use regardless of age.
“Meet The Robinsons” is rated G and has a running time of 95 minutes. The DVD is packed with extras, including Deleted Scenes, a look at the visionaries whose inventions have changed our world, Music videos by Rob Thomas and Jonas Brothers, and an Audio Commentary. This DVD is a great addiction to your Disney DVD collection. If you want to buy it right now, here’s a link to Meet The Robinsons on Amazon. Your family will love it!

Now see I dearly LOVED The Incredibles and might watch that again this weekend but I haven’t see Meet the Robinsons yet. Might give it a whirl.

I haven’t watched this DVD. DJ just received Cars and the Jungle book DVD for his birthday. Am I bad for keeping it in the wrapper for another week? I’m just not ready for the marathon repeats of watching movies over and over and over again;)
We just watched it and Adam LOVED it.
He had to go and have a private cry after…softie!

M.O.B.-The absence of talking, singing, and dancing animals definitely redeems “Meet the Robinsons”. I promise there are no penguins, either

Tanyetta-Absolutely not! I’ve done that, put the DVDs out of sight so I could bring them out when I wanted to surprise the kids with something “new”. “Meet the Robinsons” might be a little old for your son, but it’s still fun to watch, even if he doesn’t get everything that’s going on.

Kerry-It made Adam cry? Awww. I saw your post about your $200 Mall shopping spree, I wish I could have one of those! LOL
I am now going to have to give this one a whirl and check it out. After the horrid reviews, we steered clear of this one (which wasn’t difficult since it seemed to be in theaters for about 10 seconds). But you have definitely made me decide to give it a shot.
