BIG NEWS from PayPerPost!!

Author: Elizabeth

There is so much going on over at PayPerPost, I hardly know where to start. Right now, the PPP staff and about 50 Posties are just wrapping up a day-long conference called “PostieCon”. The whole thing was streamed live, so I watched most of it from my living room.

First of all, I’m not even sure it’s going to be called PayPerPost anymore. The whole company is now known as Izea, and the platform that is used by both bloggers and advertisers to create and post on campaigns is now called SocialSpark. The entire system has been revamped, everything from how bloggers are ranked to social networking is now part of the system.

A few highlights: the big one is the Ranking Alternative. The old system used a combination of Google PageRank, Alexa score, and an advertiser voting system called “tack”. Now, using the tools that Posties already have installed on their blogs, advertisers will be able to see pageviews and visits, as well as demographic information about visitors to a particular blog. Posties will also have a comprehensive profile page with optional information about gender, age, location, and interests, so that advertisers can build a “team” of bloggers that attract a particular audience.

Blog Sponsorship is another huge part of this new system. Advertisers can sponsor a blog, with pricing per day, and then the first time someone visits that blog, they will see a brief “Blog Welcome”, much like a short movie trailer. The viewer can click it closed if they wish, and then they will only see it once a week. It’s a way to monetize a blog without writing paid posts.

The last thing I want to mention, and it’s a big one, is that ALL posts will now require an in-post disclosure badge. It’s always been an option, and we’ve always had to have at least a disclosure page, but now PPP is stepping forward and saying we are going to come right out and say that the post is sponsored, we have nothing to hide. I have absolutely no problem with that!

So now it’s just a matter of waiting to see when all of this will start, I’m hoping Monday. I can’t wait to see what kinds of opps there will be and what the pricing will be for them. If you have a blog that is at least 90 days old and has good, original content on it, you should really check out the “new” PayPerPost. I’m putting a badge at the end of this post that you can click to review my post, and you’ll get paid for it. Try it, you just might like it!

It all sounds exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.

So, no more advertisers saying they don’t want in-post disclosure? I think that’s good.

I’m a little worried about it. My blogspot blog is already excluded from most opportunities and I don’t have that many visitors. I’m already writing in a new domain to replace the blogspot one. Let’s see how it works out.

  3. That is interesting — I’m looking forward to seeing how it devlops.

Anna-Ted knows that there will be advertisers that don’t like the in-post disclosure, and there will be Posties that don’t like it either. But I have never been afraid to admit that a post is sponsored. My readers know I do paid posts, I’ve got nothing to hide :)
