DVD Review-Titanic Tenth Anniversary Edition

It’s been ten years already? To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Titanic, Paramount has released a two-disc DVD. He’d probably never admit it in public, but my husband really likes Titanic, in fact, he had to make me watch it the first time. I’m sure the fact that Kate Winslet poses nude has something to do with it (*wink*).

The movie is split up into two discs, each with it’s own Commentary by Director James Cameron, Cast and Crew Commentary with Kate Winslet plus two other minor actors and the producer and executive producer, and a Historical Commentary. The Special Features are in an interesting format-you can either watch them in “Behind The Scenes” mode, meaning an icon pops up on the screen and you hit OK on your remote to go right to the featurette and then back to the movie, or you can watch all of the featurettes back to back. It’s interesting to see how all of the digital elements of the movie were combined to make scenes that really look like people walking on the deck of a huge ocean liner.

The second disc also includes an alternate ending, and Celine Dion’s music video for “My Heart Will Go On”.

My husband thought the video transfer looked a bit yellow, but I couldn’t tell. I thought it looked great, and sounded even better. We have a surround sound system, so the Dolby Digital Surround made things like the sinking of the ship sound crystal clear.

If you don’t already own a copy of Titanic on DVD, or know someone who enjoys the movie, this Tenth Anniversary Edition would be a great gift. At over 3 hours long, it’s a great cuddle-under-the-afghan winter movie!

  1. Love this movie! I went to see it two nights before I left on the cruise where I was to meet my hubby (which luckily did NOT sink and neither of us died on!). It will always hold a special spot in my DVD collection. sniff, sniff
