I just heard on the radio this morning that the Postal Service recommends that all packages and cards be mailed by tomorrow in order to arrive by Christmas! Tomorrow! Crap! So that means I need to do two giveaways today, one of which is HUGE. I’m going to need everyone’s help on this, please. If you read this post, even if you don’t want to enter to win one of the prizes, if you could mention it in a blog post or on a forum or something, I would really appreciate it!

The first item I have is from The Box Girls website. From the site:

With six young children between them and two hungry husbands, longtime friends Cece Feiler and Heidi Haddad were under serious pressure to avert a mealtime meltdown while waiting what seemed like forever for their dinner to arrive.

Drawing on Cece’s background as a psychotherapist and Heidi’s as an actress they scrambled to entertain the group. The moms spontaneously began asking questions that anyone at the table could answer.

The questions didn’t rely on trivia like the latest on ESPN, Brangelina or American Idol. They delved into serious, thought-provoking issues including ethics and morality, charity and history as well as a strong appreciation for the bonds that tie together family and society.

Dinner was a huge success and born that night was “The Box Of Questions”.

I received two of them, The Family Dinner Box of Questions, and The Christmas Box of Questions. We opened The Family Dinner Box one night as we were sitting down. Inside each box are round cards of heavy card stock, with questions on them to ask each other. We each took turns picking a card out and answering the question. We got fun questions like “what is your favorite smell?” (Nathan-”Mom’s chocolate chip cookies”) and “which family rule do you think is most unfair and why?” (Ryan-”That we only get to play video games for an hour”). We also had serious questions like “is it ever okay to tell a lie?”, which gave Chris and I the perfect opening to discuss the difference between telling a white lie (”no, those pants don’t make you look fat”) and telling a real lie. It was a lot of fun, and even though we always talk to each other at dinner anyway, it was nice to have new things to discuss.

I am giving away The Christmas Box of Questions to one reader. I really hope that if I mail it early tomorrow, it will arrive before Christmas! If not, you can either use it as a way to reflect back on your holiday, or save it for next year. To enter, just leave a comment on this post. If you do want to mention it on your blog, I would really appreciate it. I’ll draw the winner tomorrow morning and then get it right out in the mail!

Edited to add: This contest is closed, congratulations to the winner, Lanna from A Different Kind of Odd!
