I can’t believe it’s been nine years already! Seems like just yesterday I was sitting at my husband’s Aunt’s house, at an early Christmas get-together, when I realized that the tight feeling in my abdomen might just be labor starting. Two weeks early, even! I woke up at about 5:00 AM on Monday, December 21st, 1998, called the doctor’s office, and then woke up my husband. It wasn’t long before I was in a hospital bed, then getting the epidural, then having the c-section. Of all of my deliveries, Nathan’s was the easiest to have and the easiest to recover from.
He was small, only 6.5 pounds. Compared to holding Ryan who was a beefy 8 lbs 14 oz, Nathan felt light as a feather! I can’t resist, I have to post these photos. I love looking at them. Here’s Nathan (and Chris) after he and I both came out of recovery:
I’m not sure what day this was taken, it was uploaded on Dec. 25th which was the day after we left the hospital. It was probably the 22nd or 23rd. Chris had left for a while to do something and came back to find Nathan and I napping:
I can’t remember now if Ryan stayed with my Dad or with Chris’ Mom, isn’t that odd? You’d think I would remember that. But I do remember that Ryan asked “can I hold it?”, so we sat him on the couch and laid Nathan in his lap. He looked at him for a minute and then said “done now”! He was only 26 months old after all, just a bit older than Kaitlyn is now. Wow.
And now he’s a big nine year old! He doesn’t know it yet, but I’m taking him and his best friend Forrest to the local craft mall tomorrow to make their own “Build A Bear” type stuffed animals. And today after school, my Dad and Stepmom are taking him shopping for a present and then out to eat. And then next month, we will have a real party for him and more of his friends. So he gets two birthdays!
Happy Birthday, Nathan! I love you SO MUCH.
P.S. Kaitlyn just looked at that last photo and said “Dat’s Nah Nah. So cute!” Awwww….

I’m a big puddle of goo looking at those, sis! I’ll be calling later to wish my nephew a Happy Birthday (wow, only one more year until his double D – hard to believe he use to be the little guy that I laid on my bed for hours with, until like 2 A.M. watching that psychedelic light thing on my ceiling because he hadn’t stayed away from home without you two yet. Remember “I don’t know! I just don’t know!”?? That STILL lives on in infamy in my house hehe.

My ten year old still goes there every year but now just for accessories for her two bunnies that she’s had for years now. They are part of the family. We took one back recently for a ‘check up’ and the were so nice. They re-fluffed her and fixed her voice box.
