A year after their wedding, my parents had saved enough money to take a six week honeymoon in Europe. They went to England, Germany, Holland, and Italy, and they preserved the whole trip on slides. They didn’t get them out very often, but I loved looking at them on the slide projector, my Mom in her cat’s-eye glasses and beehive hairdo, my Dad with a full head of hair and much thinner. They are still in a box in my Dad’s basement, and it would be so cool to be able to see them again.
There’s a website called Video Conversion Experts that can take old slides and do amazing things-scan them at 2, 3, or 4000 DPI (dots per inch), clean them up, and transfer your much better looking Slides to CD.
The process of slide transfer includes adjusting the color, filling in scratches, restoring the grain, even cropping and rotating the slides if necessary. Video Conversion Experts offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee-if you’re not completely satisfied with your slide transfer order, they will do it again for free or refund your money. Of course, if the slides are too badly deteriorated, they may not be able to be restored. Refunds are only given if a competitor does a better job for a similar price-which has never happened!
So now I’m thinking about finding that box of dusty slides in my Dad’s basement and seeing how many of them look like they are still in good enough shape to have restored from 35mm slides to DVD. I think it would be cool to see my parents’ honeymoon again only in a better quality format.

My parents just had this done with all their slides and old home movies. I don’t know who they used but it’s great to watch them now!

My father in law is digitalizing his slides with a projector and his camera. Just project the slides and photograph them. He says it works great but i haven’t seen the results yet. He probably will bore me to death with it in a couple off months.
Matthijs-Well, that’s one way to do it! And let him bore you, that’s what parents are supposed to do, right?
