Kaitlyn’s Words, January edition

Author: Elizabeth

She speaks in sentences, people. She turned two on November 18th, and she can now speak in sentences. And it’s kind of freaking me out! It’s like, one day all she could say was “hot” and “boot”, and then it was “apple, peez?”, and now it’s “have you seen my juice?” and “I’ll be careful with you” which she just said to me as she was brushing my hair. I’m just amazed, even though this is my third child, every time it’s just mind-boggling, how they grow and develop. And she sure is doing a bang-up job of it.

“Have you seen my blankets?”

“Mama, Elvis barking” (still no “k” sound, so it sounds like bar-ting)

She’s been trying to sing “Jingle Bells”, but it comes out “Deendle Bells, Deendle Bells”. We all think it’s adorable.

She’s also singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, except she starts with “how I wonder what you are”, which sounds like “how I wonner ut oo ah”. We know what she means.

And the phone! She loves to talk on the phone! She picked up my cell phone yesterday and started punching buttons, and called my Dad’s house! My Stepmother called back worried because the caller ID said it was us but no one was saying anything.

She loves to do dishes so much that she will grab a kitchen chair and drag it over to the sink, no matter whose house we are in. She sits on the floor while Chris folds laundry and holds up each piece of clothing, identifying who it belongs to-”this Ryan’s shirt”, “this Nah-Nah’s pants”.

Oh yes, and I don’t want to forget, this is the month that she decided she wants to “do it mySELF”. And she has started declaring things to be hers, although she doesn’t say MY cup, she says “MINE” cup, etc. It’s cute, for now.

She’s getting so big! *sniff* Even though two year olds can be incredibly frustrating, stubborn, and emotional, they are also soaking up information so fast it’s blinding. Every day I hear her say something new, watch her try something for the first time. And no matter how many times I’ve seen it before, it’s still awesome to watch.

  1. Oh how cute! My little one will be 2 in a couple of weeks and is still at the ‘apple, peez’ stage – but I know she’ll be saying complete sentences too before long. It’s great that you have such a little helper, and such a gorgeous one too – those curls are to die for! :)

Jennifer-Despite the temper tantrums, there really is something special about two year olds. She loves to give kisses, and snuggle, and she’s always trying to feed us, she brushes my hair-I wouldn’t trade her for anything!

How sweet! You should record her talking or singing. Before you know it she’ll lose all those cute baby mistakes in her language. :*)

Thalia’s exactly six months ahead of her and I am enjoying this talking business to no end. It blows me away that she goes from “doggie” to “That’s a big dog, Mommy, can I pet that dog named Ziggy?” in like four minutes flat. (Or so it seems.)

Your girl is adorable. Enjoy every minute.

Tee-I’m trying to convince my husband that we need to spend part of our tax return on a video camera in part so that I can record her talking! It really is cute to listen to her playing and talking to her toys.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  13. Oh, how I miss that stage! My youngest is four and I don’t dare correct her babyisms. She will give them up soon enough, which is too soon for me!

Kaitlyn’s such a cutie! Ooo I can’t wait to experience the same with my bun in the oven, but then I’ll be crying because he’ll be growing up so fast!

My finace will be posting a review of the video camera that we have on http://mommydaddyblog.com. Maybe he can convince your hubby to buy it or at least some sort of video camera.

That is adorable. It’s so funny when kids start using complete sentences suddenly, and you realize they’re copying Mom and Dad. I’ve known a few kids who don’t even start talking until they can use complete sentences, which makes it extra freaky. One little boy I knew, Carson, was so silent for a while that they feared he might have problems. But when he finally started talking, he turned out to be frighteningly clever. Once, the younger brother of a friend of mine was talking to Carson, and I guess Carson got annoyed with him, because he suddenly pointed across the room and said “go over there. Your mom is looking for you.” Needless to say, she wasn’t.

You have a little cute daughter. It is always funny to see the way they speak. It is just the wonderful time of life to see your kid trying to talk.

I use a social networking site its about connecting with your family, its called as Onefamily.com I have my family tree and I have put my baby’s picture in there. So every time I switch on my pc my daughter will make sure I have showed the family tree to her. It is just wonderful you see.

If you are there on onefamily.com sure will meet up.

What a cutie! Looks like the dog knows where to go for a snack as well. Two is an amazing age, its like you can literally watch them grow. For me two was a cake walk compared to three. Enjoy!

My oldest just turned 3 and I swear, the things they say just get cuter and cuter. Instead of saying he wants to do it himself, my son says “I want to do it with myself.” Makes those difficult moments worth it – especially when you hear “Mommy, I love you!”

Look at those curls, how precious! I guess they learn faster when they have a sibling. I know my middle child Madisen was never a baby. If only we could stop time and make them stay little babies for at least a little while!
