YawpBox combines the video-sharing of YouTube with the social networking of Facebook and combines it on a fun site that wants you to post your life experiences and share them with people all over the world. You can upload photos, videos, audio files, or write journal entries, and then other users can vote on how cool or funny or ridiculous your entry is.
User-generated content, especially in video, is a huge form of entertainment these days. People go to sites like YouTube to watch people making fools of themselves, to listen to laughing babies, to see for themselves if you can really make Diet Coke blow up by dropping in a Mentos. My favorite user-created video has to be the Potter Puppet Pals in “Mysterious Ticking Noise”. If you haven’t seen it, and you are at all a fan of Harry Potter, you should really watch it.
The other cool thing happening on YawpBox is YawpBoxTV, a 30 minute weekly show filmed live before an audience in Dallas, Texas. The creators of YawpBox, Lex and Terry, take user-submitted videos, show them, and also show the profile of the creator and add their own commentary. Lex and Terry also give out a “homework assignment” on each show, which you can see on the website by clicking the Topics tab. So if you submit a video on YawpBox, you could end up on TV!

Thanks. I’ll check it out – although I shouldn’t really. You Tube is already way too addictive.
