When I was in Chicago for BlogHer last summer, I had what you could call a “memorable” experience trying to get from one hotel to another. Right after checking in to our hotel, me, one of my roommates, and Joy, the blogger I traveled with, had to go to another hotel for Speaker Training. We told the doorman at our hotel where we needed to go, he hailed a cab, and told the driver the name of the hotel.
Problem was, there is more than one hotel with the words “City Centre” in the title in Chicago. The cab dropped us off, we walked into the lobby, but when we didn’t see any signs with the word “BlogHer” on them, or any people wearing the name badges, we knew we were in the wrong place. After talking to the concierge, we then had to get into another cab and pay for another trip to a different hotel. Maybe if we had been carrying a handheld GPS, we wouldn’t have been so lost!

And if you are ever in Chicago and need to go to the Holiday Inn Chicago-City Centre, don’t tell your cabdriver you need the Chicago City Centre hotel. You will end up someplace completely different, trust me.
