I am still sick. As in, horrible deep coughing that leaves me exhausted, muscle aches, no appetite. And yet I got on the scale this morning and had gained two pounds, anyone want to explain that to me? How many calories are in water and Tylenol?

My son Ryan pinched a nerve in his neck last weekend, and he has a doctor appointment today to see the orthopedist for an adjustment. Problem is, I am too sick to take him, Chris had to go to work today, my Dad has appointments all day. Which means I will probably have to suck it up and take him anyway, which involves an exhausting amount of driving and getting Kaitlyn in and out of the car seat.

I have no one else I can call for help. No other family, no friends that can drop everything to spend a few hours driving my son around. It really sucks.

Whine, whine, whine.

I’m getting back in bed the second I get Kaitlyn down for an early nap, and we’ll see how I feel after that. In the meantime, have a great day, everybody.

This is the lamest post ever.

edited to add: the universe must have decided I deserved a break, because my Dad just happened to call home in between appointments, and my Stepmom just called to say he agreed to not go to swimming this afternoon and instead, help me out with Ryan’s appointment. It is such a relief. Oh, and she said that her doctor said that this years’ flu shot didn’t have the serum to protect against the strain of flu I more than likely have. Yippee.

edited to add again: Ryan ended up having to go to the hospital for a neck x-ray, but the oh-so-helpful doctor told him absolutely nothing about what might be the matter. And the manipulation made his neck feel better for about a half hour, and then it started hurting again. He has a prescription for VALIUM, people. We’re supposed to give it to him ever 6-10 hours until his neck feels better. Which pretty much wipes out school for the rest of the week. My poor baby.

Oh that is so not fair, but very common, isn’t it - the Mommy is always the one who has to make sure everything gets done. And we don’t get sick days from being a Mom!

I hope you can get some rest this afternoon and that you’re feeling better soon.

Well that sucks on the flu shot not having the serum for whatever it is you likely have!! How annoying!!

Hope you feel better as quick as possible!! If you like tea, drink lots…the steam helps!

Sucks to be the mommy sometimes, huh. Hope you get better soon.

But in the meantime, maybe make yourself a nice, mild 7-up float. Vanilla ice cream and 7-up. Yum.

That you managed to get out of bed and write a post is accomplishment enough!

Get well real soon, Elizabeth!

I’m sorry to hear you’ve come down with the flu even though you got a shot! As a reminder to your readers, vaccination is generally the single best way to protect yourself and people you love from influenza. If you come down with the flu, there are still things you can do such as taking antiviral drugs if your doctor says you need them. To protect others from the flu, take preventive actions including frequent hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes. For more information from CDC on influenza and how to protect against it or keep from spreading it, visit CDC’s http://www.myFluNews.com
