There's always a risk entailed when you elect to do something like this yourself, but I do know how tempting it is - its not just a matter of saving money, but the challenge of doing something for yourself. There are lots of things around the house though that I'm not qualified to do and its very easy to get egg on your face if you get it wrong. Just the other week I blew all the lights on the top floor of my house because I was too stubborn to call out an electrician for intsance.

Because a professional carpet cleaner does anywhere from 2-8 jobs per day, he is both equiped and better experienced in cleaning your carpets. It's really not as expensive as you may think. Think about it. It costs $250 for a domestic carpet cleaning machine. It costs $25 to rent that machine plus an additional $10 for cleaning chemicals. Plus gas and other miscellaneous expenses and you may be paying up to $50 to clean you carpets on you own. You are not trained to properly remove all of the soap from the carpets, so it most likely will resoil extremely quickly and worse than before you cleaned it. A good carpet cleaning company may charge about 40-50 per room for carpet cleaning. But a discount carpet cleaning service may clean your carpets for $20 per room. I clean carpets professionally and charge more than a discount cleaner but it's important that you know that this is available to you. You will pay close to the same, no back breaking work on your part, and the results are way better. You should consider doing surgery on yourself before you try to clean your carpets yourself. Hire a pro!

Me and my family are allergic to dust and our home is fully carpeted. We hired professional carpet cleaners for some years and we make sure that they clean our carpets regularly. Well, just be aware, if you do decide to do it yourself, that cleaning carpet is very physical work. carpetcleaningcoop[.]com

Personally, I would just hire a company to do it, as I would not have the patience to clean my carpet thoroughly.
