It has been the longest three days of my entire blogging life. Did you miss me? Do you have any idea how sick it feels to see a blank screen instead of your blog? It seems that my switch from Bluehost to Hostgator has been successful (fingers crossed, knock on wood), and I want to thank all of the support people at Hostgator who worked round the clock all weekend to get Table for Five up and running!
In all the commotion, I completely forgot that September 1st was my Blog Anniversary! Actually I published one or two posts in August of 2005, but those somehow got lost in my moves from Blogger to WordPress.com to self-hosted WordPress, so if you look at my archives, the oldest post is dated September 1st, 2005. Three years! Woo Hoo!!
I remember that first month of blogging. The hardest thing for me wasn’t coming up with post ideas, it was figuring out post titles! I had such a hard time thinking of what to call my posts so that maybe other people would find them interesting and read them. Let’s take a look at a few-
9/1/05: Feeling Sad and Frustrated-a post about Hurricane Katrina, how helpless I felt just sitting here watching CNN. My husband working late on a Friday night answering phone calls for the Red Cross. A joke Nathan told me about an elephant.
9/07/05: Can’t We All Just Get Along?-my first post about my neighbor who was completely insane and made my life in this neighborhood and at our kids’ elementary school a living nightmare for two years. They moved to Las Vegas this summer and I was happy to see them go.
9/12/05: Dear Kaitlyn:Week 28-a letter to the baby girl I hadn’t met yet!
9/20/05: It’s All About The Gentlemens-The first “funny” story I posted about one of my kids.
So there you go, some posts from my first few weeks of blogging three years ago! I’d like to send a special thank-you shout-out to three of my very first reader/commenters, who welcomed me to the world of blogging and made me feel like maybe this was going to be something I was going to want to keep doing. I guess we all have them to thank! So to my special friends Julie, Belinda, and Busy Mom, who are still my friends today, thanks for making this lady feel like she belonged in the world of blogging! I love you bunches and bunches
If you stopped by today to read this post, why not leave me an anniversary gift by de-lurking and leaving a comment? That would be awesome! And thank YOU for reading this blog and giving me a reason to keep writing it! Love you bunches and bunches too, you know ![]()

Happy Bloggiversary!
It’s always a monumental event to be through yet another year of sharing, another year of making friends and keeping in touch through blogs. I keep track of my friends and their little tots through their blogs. It’s always a joy to watch the kids grow even if I’m far away- and of course, to hear how my dear friends are doing.
So, many many more happy bloggiversaries to you!

Happy Blogiversary! So glad that you finally were able to get the issues from the weekend ironed out. Those issues are the days I am so glad my hubby is a webmaster – kinda nice. I do his laundry and he fixes my blog

With every passing year people draw up themselves a balance-sheet how it passed. I know that sometimes it was difficult to go on with blogging and that’s why I congratulate you for enthusiasm and steadiness to make your blog. Go on on the same lines!

Happy Bloggiversary! Yay for you, Elizabeth!
I was wondering if you could give me some bloggy advice: I’ve bought a domain and am wondering if I should go for wordpress.org, or stick with .com. I’m afraid to go for .org because of hosting fees. Could I realistically expect ads to cover the cost of that? I only have about 300-400 visits per day so far, but just a month ago it was only 100, so my readership is growing fast…
Any advice you have would be much appreciated!

Hi Andrea,
Congrats on buying a domain! I know it’s scary, believe me! I was petrified when I bought table4five.net and realized I was now going to have to take care of everything myself. I do use WordPress for all my blogs and I’m not familiar with anything else, but I can say that although it does take some work, I wouldn’t leave WordPress for any other type of publishing platform.
Hosting will cost you anywhere from $7 to $10 a month depending on the company and the package you choose, and you usually also get a discount for buying 3 or 6 or 12 months at a time. Some people put Adsense on their blogs and do really well right away, some blogs it takes longer to find the right ads. It took me a year to start getting ads through Text Link Ads and Linkworth, but I recommend you sign up with them, I’ve had success with both on this blog and they have great support people too.
Feel free to email me anytime at elizabeth AT table4five DOT net with questions. I was so lucky when I got started to have a blog friend who answered every question, even the ones I thought were “dumb”. There are no dumb questions! I’m happy to help
Belated wishes for your belated anniversary! Three years – WTG!
