Taking it One Day at a Time since 1996
12 Sep
Kaitlyn and I did some shopping yesterday, and while I wasn’t surprised to see magazines at Target with carved pumpkins on the covers, and Halloween costumes and decorations, what did surprise me was that Target also has Thanksgiving decorations out. Because apparently, we are now supposed to completely decorate our houses inside and out for Thanksgiving, just like for Christmas.
Maybe I’m just a cynical grump, but I have a hard enough time keeping my tabletops cleared off enough to accomodate my Christmas decorations for a few weeks let alone have to find places for Autumn Leaf Wreaths and scarecrow bells for heaven’s sakes! I will admit though, I am thinking about sending Thanksgiving gift baskets to my Grandma and Chris’ Grandparents this year, because I think we’re staying home for the holidays this year. It was just too completely stressful and exhausting last year, and I seem to remember Chris and I discussing how nice it would be to just not have to GO anywhere for once.
So yeah, sending a nice basket of fruit and cookies would assuage my guilt about depriving our Grandparents of the joys of our company on Thanksgiving
What about you? Have you started making Thanksgiving plans yet? Will you be decorating your house and buying flower or gift baskets? It’s not too soon to start thinking about it, at least not according to Target!

Oh, Elizabeth. Sam and I were at Cost Plus today and they were putting up Christmas stuff. We laughed about it and the lady putting up the display looked disgusted and said, “I know! Right?” Apparently she also thought it was too early!
And it IS!
And love the new look, but on my laptop the comments stuff is not lined up properly… the deets (name addy etc) are up and right and this comment box is down and left…
submit looks good.
I’m making turkey. We’ll see who shows up, it’ll be interesting. If my dad comes, he gets to sleep on a cot in the den. If both IL’s come, we may need to keep them away from each other. It may turn into a circus. But I won’t be driving anywhere, that’s for sure.
Oh, and decorations? We had school supplies here in mid-July, Halloween and Christmas decorations out in August. Back in my retail days (only 6-7 years ago!) we were just putting the Christmas stuff out the week before Halloween. One year we helped a guy with no costume outfit himself as a Christmas tree because all the costumes had sold out.
Hoping I got my deets in the right boxes for ya.
I just have to say that those fall-looking Thanksgiving decorations are for those of us (Me!) who don’t decorate for Halloween and then for Thanksgiving separately. I just put up fall decor in early October and leave it until the weekend after Thanksgiving when it gets switched out immediately with the Christmas decor. So much easier that way.
So, our Halloween/Thanksgiving stuff all goes up at the same time. Pumpkins, Gourds, leaves, etc. That’s the extent of it here, because I am way too busy (And lazy!) to be decorating three times in three months.
“Halloween costumes” that gives me much pleasure.Once i get fare to my cosign by sanding a Halloween card. That gives me so fun.Anyway i love to read your post. Thanks for sharing the post.
Hey Elizabeth. Got your message from twitter. Send me a message to the email address I put in this comment form as that’s the one I check 24/7. Then let me know what exactly you need help with. Talk to ya soon! =)
Hi Elizabeth. Halloween costumes and parties are really my favorites during the events. Time is slipping too fast. I remember, the New Years was just like days ago, and Halloween then Christmas is getting near again. Time for gifts and family-get-together again.
By the way, I checked out the link and those Thanksgiving baskets are really cool.
wow this is a cool contest.. *thinking of a cool entry*

I don’t think it is only the thanks giving. It is our nature to make a rush in ever event. That gives extra enjoyment in every occasion.
