Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor in “Deception”

Author: Elizabeth

Deception DVD“Deception” stars Ewan McGregor as Jonathan McQuarry, a freelance tax auditor who lives a solitary life until one day while working late, he meets Wyatt Bose (Hugh Jackman). He’s surprised at Bose’s interest in him since Bose seems so sophisticated, but after they hang out for a while, McQuarry begins to relax around his new friend. And then one day, Bose “accidentally” picks up McQuarry’s cell phone just as he is leaving for a trip out of the country, and McQuarry’s life changes in ways neither he nor the audience will expect.

McQuarry begins answering cell phone calls that simply ask if he is available and gives him a hotel location. He soon discovers that the purpose of these phone calls is anonymous sex. Michelle Williams (widow of the late Heath Ledger, who costarred with him in Brokeback Mountain) plays “S”, a woman McQuarry meets but falls in love with. And soon he is caught up in a blackmail scheme involving kidnapping, bank fraud, and theft. The outcome will surprise you. “Deception” is a compelling film, I found myself getting really caught up in the unfolding of the mystery. McGregor does an amazing job, and Williams is stunning. This is one you should pick up for rent or buy if you are a big fan of the actors.
