I’ve got five copies of the DVD “Soccer Mom” to give away. This is an entertaining movie for kids of all ages, with Emily Osment as Becca, whose soccer team is in desperate need of a good coach, and Missi Pyle as Wendy, her Mom who comes up with a crazy idea to help the girls win. From Amazon-
Teenage girls often struggle with self-confidence and the members of the losing Galaxy girl’s soccer team are finding their own sense of inadequacy difficult to overcome. When their lackluster coach gets transferred to Italy, the team’s hopes soar at the promise of soccer legend Lorenzo Vincenzo (What I Like About You’s Dan Cortese) filling in as temporary coach. The team’s excitement threatens to turn to bitter disappointment when the soccer great refuses to coach the team upon landing in California. Soccer mom Wendy (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s Missi Pyle), concerned that her daughter Becca (Hannah Montana’s Emily Osment)is at a crossroads in dealing with the death of her father, decides to take things into her own hands in order to avoid disappointing her daughter and the rest of the team. With the help of a couple of friends, Wendy disguises herself as Lorenzo Vincenzo and, before she knows it, she’s coaching her daughter’s soccer team incognito. Wendy’s double life becomes increasingly complicated and comedy reigns as she tries to keep her dual identity a secret while inspiring the team to greatness. In the end, everyone involved learns an important lesson about the power of self-confidence and the special bond between mothers and daughters.

I never played sports in high school because there weren’t any sports for girls!!! (I know, I’m OLD) . Now get this I was denied 3rd place when I graduated BECAUSE I didn’t play any sports. The two BOYS that I tied with were placed ahead of me based on how many sports they were involved in!
So I ended up placing 5th in my class! That would not happen today!
Awesome. Count me in.

I played softball growing up and then switched to drill team in junior high and high school. Dorky, I know. I WISH I’d played soccer.

I wondered about this movie, and how cute it is. What do you think about it?
I didn’t really play a sport in school, but I did cheerleading (6th grade) and dance and drill (high school). I would definitely say my mom played a sport though. She had to sprint to chase me and my sisters all over! LOL
I was on the swim team when I was in high school. I swam the 500 free, but I never won…..in fact, I always came in last. It was not my event as I was filling in for someone else, but at least I always finished. That’s what’s important to me…not winning….though it would’ve been nice…LOL!!!

I love to see young kids get interested in football – if this DVD helps in getting them to watch and learn about and ultimately play football then it sounds like a good film in my mind.
