This is why Im thinking of just going ahead and buying a Mac.

With my gaming days behind me, what does Windows really offer except viruses, spyware and blaring security holes?

I got some stupid thing just like that last week. I wasn't even at the computer when it started, so I have no idea how it got there.

That was the least of my worries though, because then on Saturday my laptop crashed in the middle of a Windows update - and then wouldn't load Windows properly. After hours on the phone with a really nice guy at Microsoft on Sunday, attempting to repair Windows, it still won't work. :(

Dell wants me to use their hidden partition to restore the computer to the way it was when I bought it, but the computer guys where Jeffrey works say to do a new install on C. Dell's way would destroy all my data, but a new install should only affect the C drive. I recently moved most of my files to the D drive, and they should be safe there. I'm hoping, anyway - but so far I haven't attempted the install. Downloaded all the drivers from Dell onto a jump drive, but not quite ready to actually do it. All my email will be history, but luckily I use Yahoo and Gmail a lot - so that's all safe.

Still, the whole thing makes me sick...
