DVD review- “Mirrors”

mirrorsMirrors” is one of those movies that requires you to suspend your disbelief and just accept the premise of the plot, which, by the way, takes WAY too long to be set up. You’re a good two-thirds of the way through before you find out WHY the mirrors are so evil.

Kiefer Sutherland plays Ben Carson, a former cop who is dealing with both the loss of his job and being separated from his wife and children by living with his sister Angie (Amy Smart) and taking a night job as a security guard in a closed-down department store. The store was closed after a massive fire. Spooky things start happening, Ben starts seeing images in the store’s mirrors, and soon the mirror itself writes Ben a message to find someone or his family will suffer.

Like I said, suspend your disbelief. And, this movie is graphic. There are disturbing scenes of people dying in fire, children in danger, and a scene involving Angie is downright upsetting. I do not recommend children of any age watch this movie. If you like movies like The Ring and The Grudge, you’ll probably enjoy Mirrors. Pick it up on DVD and Blu-Ray today.
