Have you been to the website Yelp? It’s a site where people can post reviews, and I just finished reading a page of reviews for a store called Sabon in downtown New York City. And now I am really wishing it was possible for me to go there! Sabon is located in the part of downtown called SoHo, and what makes it stand out from other sellers of beauty products is that the first thing that happens when you walk in is you are invited to wash your hands. That’s right! The salespeople take you over to a washing station and have you choose a scented scrub, which you use to scrub your hands clean and smooth, then you get a scented lotion to smooth on. Sounds heavenly!
So that made me want to check out the site, which is located at http://SabonNYC.com/. There I found a veritable feast of soaps, lotions, scrubs, oils, candles, a line of facial treatments, and a line of men’s cleanser, shaving cream and aftershave. One thing the reviewers on Yelp mentioned often is the handmade soap, which is in a big chunk on the counter of the store and they slice off a piece for you and wrap it up right there. There was also high praise for the Patchouli Lavendar Vanilla, Lavendar Apple, Lemon Mint and the Vanilla Coconut fragrances, especially in the body scrubs.
Well now, that got my attention, because I LOVE anything scented with Vanilla and Coconut. I’ve noticed in the last few years that my hands are not as smooth as they used to be, and I’d be willing to try a body scrub if it will help! According to the Sabon NYC site, the Vanilla Coconut Body Scrub is a “Sabon classic”, contains Dead Sea salt crystals as well as macadamia, almond and soybean oils. It can be used on any skin type twice a week to improve circulation and gently remove dead skin. A small jar is $24.00 but if it would make my hands look younger, I think that would be worth it!
