I’m TOTALLY leaving a comment on this post. Because now I finally have a reason to. :)

My favorite book to give as a baby gift is Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Wise Brown. Every baby should start off with a good library, right? (That, and hopefully the baby will be going to SLEEP. For the ENTIRE night.) ;)

My boys love the succinct Curious George stories (we have 8-story collection books). They’re cute, typically have a good story/message, and who can’t help but like a monkey? :D I think George and the Chocolate Factory is mine and the 3yo’s favorite… the 5.5yo loves the Dump Truck one. Kids after my own heart. ;)

I believe that this is an awesome contest…no matter who wins. I realise that I’m going out-on-a-limb here. Not everyone will agree with me, but I feel that the best book to give a new born is “The Bible”. I am suggesting a child’s version…You know, illustrated with “Precious Moments”? There isn’t an age too young nor too old to get to know God and grow closer to Him.
There are two very special books that I read to my son, Joseph. First, “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. Although,I believe it is about the “greatest love of all” (giving love unconditionally) others might argue that it demonstrates people’s lack of gratitude and an unwillingness to give anything in return.
“Mama Always Comes Home”, written by Karma Wilson is another book that I highly recommend. Mother’s who have been separated from their child(ren), as well as children from their parents come to realize “that they are never really alone And that the bond of love…can never truly be destroyed.

P.S. – I will subscribe to “Table of Five.”
