I remember drinking Crystal Clear Pepsi outside during our track and field day in third grade. That would have been about 5 minutes before my friends put neon glitter sunscreen on my dog, preventing us from having our professional photos taken that evening! (That was also the era of neon….)

I have lots of fun and nostalgic memories of lazy, childhood summers in New York that included swimming for hours, and running after the Mister Softee truck for the best soft serve ice cream cones in the world!

Specifically related to Pepsi products I remember my dad filled the Pepsi machine at work as part of his job. He would often bring home 6 pack bottles of Mt. Dew and Pepsi. I was allowed to have one bottle per day! Those were the days!

One of my favorite throwbacks is the Pepsi vs. Coke Taste Test Challenge they used to do outside of grocery stores and other venues. I think it was put on by Coke, and you basically were suppose to tell them which one you liked better. If you selected Coke you got a prize. I always thought the Pepsi tasted better, so I never won! haha

Way back in the day, we used to collect empty soda bottles and turn them in for money. Remember those tall glass Pepsi bottles, they were worth 10 cents and we’d collect as many as we could, turn them in, and buy boatloads of the best candy ever: Garbage Pail kids, Razzles, Candy Cigarettes, and my favorite Partridge Family Trading Cards that included that pink cardboard-tasting piece of gum that would crumble when you put it in your mouth.

We were just talking about this at Easter, and now with the Pepsi Throwback, it just reminds me of growing up. My Grandma has always been a Pepsi drinker, and she’s always been great about sharing her pop with all of us little ones. We were talking about how she had to drink pop with all those nasty floaties in it, and how she probably never had a pop to herself! And I can’t help but think about those glass bottles!
