Yesterday was Nathan’s 4th grade end-of-year concert. He sang and played the recorder. Tonight was Ryan’s 6th grade end-of-year concert, he played the violin. Our school district requires all 5th graders to pick either band, orchestra or choir, next year Nathan wants to be in band and play the clarinet.
Today is Chris’ birthday. He is in Atlanta on business. I suggested he take himself to a movie tonight but today was the main work day for the computer migration something something or other, so he didn’t think he’d even be able to do that. I called him this morning and sang Happy Birthday and Kaitlyn told him “happy birthday Daddy!”. He’ll be home Friday night.
I took a job helping with the BlogHer conference this year, the same job I did last year- Bookstore “Wrangler”. It means that my job is to pull together the information from all of the authors who would like to have their book stocked in our bookstore during the conference. I submit the orders to the bookseller and also make up the schedule for book signings. My Gmail has completely exploded with book requests as well as requests for product reviews and giveaways, and it makes me a little crazy every time I open it.
And um, yeah. Remember how I told you that when my husband goes away on business, I realize what a complete and total slob I am? My house is trashed. TRASHED. Because during the day I’m trying to keep up with the email and write a post or two and play with Kaitlyn like I’m supposed to instead of letting her be parented by Nick Jr. And at night I’m trying to figure out what’s for dinner and making sure the homework is done and keeping Nathan from taking 40 minute showers and trying to watch a TV show or two.
Crazy, and yet, today is one of those days where I feel grateful to have healthy kids and a loving husband and a roof over our heads. I really can’t complain. Things are what they are, the posts will get written, the emails will get answered, the books will get ordered, and I’ll try to remember to be grateful for the life I have.
So anyway, that’s what’s been going on with me. Here’s me and Nathan in a less frazzled moment. Enjoy!

Elizabeth,
You should not be so hard on yourself. The house can get a bit messy now and then but it does not mean you’re a slob. I mean your kids have done an amazing thing with playing in the end-of-year concert. Keep positive and speak soon.
