INFO: On July 14th, Paramount Home Entertainment will release the hit TNT series Leverage: The First Season on DVD! Oscar-winner Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People) is Nate Ford, a former insurance investigator . His insurance company allowed his young son to die and now he is getting even. He leads a team of thieves who right corporate and governmental injustices against honest people. The show also stars Gina Bellman (“Couplingâ€), Christian Kane (“Into The Westâ€), Beth Riesgraf (Alvin and the Chipmunks) and Aldis Hodge (“Friday Night Lightsâ€). The four- disc set includes all 13 episodes, deleted scenes, stunt fighting and more! Get ready to get even as LEVERAGE: THE FIRST SEASON comes to DVD July 14th, 2009.
My Take: TNT is quickly becoming my go-to network for great dramatic television with a hint of humor. Along with Raising the Bar, Leverage will be one of my must-DVR shows on TNT. Timothy Hutton has the perfect air of world-weariness, Christian Kane is still adorable even if I barely recognized him since his days on Angel. Aldis Hodge is one of those actors that makes me go “wait, what have I seen him in?” and then I check IMDb and it turns out he’s done an episode of pretty much every show I’ve ever watched.
I watched the first episode, called The Nigerian Job. Every episode is called The Something Job, a formula that worked really well on Friends. After a brief set-up, we are introduced to Nate’s team in the present and then with a flashback of how they got to be a bringer-of-justice. Alec Hardison (Hodge) is Internet and Computer Fraud, we see him in a swanky hotel having convinced the hotel’s computer that he was Mick Jagger. Eliot Spencer (Kane) is the Retrieval Specialist, he does something vague called “collecting the merchandise”. Parker (Riesgraf) is “Security and Infiltration”. Her flashback is the most disturbing, her Dad or StepDad or whoever he was sure got what he deserved.
What keeps this show moving and fun to watch is that while it’s dramatic, it has snappy dialogue and moments of wit to lighten the mood. It didn’t take me long to know that this was definitely a show I’m going to watch every week.
BONUS FEATURES:Â This 13-episode box set has the following bonus features:
- Leverage: Behind the Scenes
- Anatomy of a Stunt Fight
- The Cameras of Leverage
- Leverage Gets Renewed
- Beth Riesgraf’s Crazy Actress Spoof

So, the new season starts this Wednesday, get yourself caught up by picking up the Leverage Season One box set and watching an episode or two a day until you’re caught up. I do it ALL the time since I rarely watch shows the first season.

I agree. I find myself watching TNT more and more. I love Raising the Bar. I’ll have to check out Leverage.
Kailani- Isn’t Raising the Bar so good? If you missed any of last season, the box set is so worth the price. If you liked the Ocean’s 11 movies, you’ll like Leverage

Oh, I absolutely LOVE Leverage. Great show. Just watched the season premiere. Hubby & I have talked about getting it on DVD.
I’ve read some critiques of the show and a lot have been saying that it is quite a good one. Too bad that I never got the chance to see it… Maybe I can watch it on DVD then.
