cross-posted from MomReviews Image via CrunchBase *deep breath* I need $100 by Thursday. I had been counting on my monthly payout from Linkworth for the text ads I run on Table for Five, but they don't payout unless you earn $100, and I only earned $95.00. The money will get added to my payout for next month, but I leave for BlogHer on Thursday morning. The money will be spent on gas for the car I'm driving there and back (I'm taking 2 other people down and 3 people back, but once the tank of gas the car is delivered with is gone, we'll have to chip in to refill it), lunch on the way there and back, tips for the doorman and any necessary cab rides, and if I have enough, a souvenir BlogHer t-shirt which they've never had before. $100 might not even be enough but I feel bad enough asking for help as it is. I'd also like to point out that while this blog does have text link advertisers, the amounts they are willing to pay are not large, and the money I received … [Read more...]
Giveaway- V8 V-Fusion® & L.L. Bean Tote

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations to the winner, Carolyn from The Art of Random Willy-Nillyness, who is a subscriber and also a fellow SocialSparker! Enjoy your prize! When I visited the Campbell's Kitchens, one of our hands-on demonstrations was how to make our own smoothies using V8 F-Fusion fruit and vegetable juice. We had tasted each of the V-Fusion varieties first, and my favorite was Goji Raspberry, so when it came time to make my smoothie, that's what I used. The basic smoothie recipe is 1 cup lowfat vanilla yogurt, 1 cup frozen fruit, and 1 cup juice whirled up in a blender. I used the Goji Raspberry V-Fusion and frozen raspberries, and ended up needing just a pinch of sugar to cut the tartness of the raspberries. It was SO GOOD. This is me in the Campbell's Kitchens measuring out my smoothie ingredients (and looking over at...someone) GIVEAWAY: Thanks to Campbell's, I have a case of the new V8 V-Fusion® 100% juice varieties and an embroidered … [Read more...]
My Take on the PR Hullabaloo

I've seen these situations flare up over and over in the almost 4 years I've been blogging, where one blogger writes something and it gets jumped on and picked apart, lines are drawn in the sand, you're either "for" or "against". For the record, in the matter of Trisha at MomDot and her suggestion during a podcast that bloggers spend a week in a "PR Blackout", count me as "for". On Friday, July 10th, Trisha did her weekly Friday Night Live show on BlogTalk Radio. Each week, she picks a topic and members of the MomDot community call in and discuss it. Her topic that week was Blogger Burnout. She talked about bloggers who are online 10 to 14 hours a day who never feel like they are caught up. Sound like anyone ELSE you know? *cough* On Monday, July 13th, Trisha published a post on MomDot titled P.R. Blackout Challenge in which she posted a P.R. Blackout Badge and issued this challenge: MomDot is … [Read more...]
