Can you imagine checking out at the grocery store and having your total be five cents?? This video makes me think that I should take couponing more seriously!

Wow, that’s unbelievable! I never take the time to do the coupons because it’s always seemed to be a total hassle; but wow…just wow. I really need to start.

That’s all well and good for processed items for which stores and manufacturers provide coupons, but I didn’t see a whole lot of fresh food besides the fish that she bought. What about the fruits and vegetables? I don’t see too many coupons for carrots, apples, grapes, bananas, or other fresh food around here in the DC area. I tried doing coupons for a couple of years, but I found it to be more trouble than worth it because most of it was for processed food that doesn’t make up most of our diet in our family. I stick to fresh food and store brands and we do okay, but I’d love to see how that woman in the clip handles fresh items.

I would love to do that, but that doesn’t work for fruits and veggies and most meats. I have never seen meat coupons like that before.

Qtpies7-I agree, my grocery store never gives me $1.00 off seafood coupons. I save a lot of money by buying what’s on sale and shopping at Aldi as much as I can, but the best I’ve ever done is about $80 for one week, and that didn’t include extra gallons of milk during the week.

  8. Anyone can do that…if you starve them!

FishyGirl- I agree with your comment. Her pantry stockpile seems to mostly be boxed pasta meals. She wasn’t shown buying anything fresh at all, and there’s no way she’s getting enough produce to meet the RDA for 6 people with $4.00 a week. Too bad the news piece didn’t address that.
