How many weeks until Christmas? FIVE

Author: Elizabeth

If you look at my Christmas Countdown ticker at the bottom of the right sidebar, it’s 31 days until Christmas. So I suppose mathematically, that’s four weeks plus a few days, but the way I look at it, there’s this whole week (Monday to Friday), and then four more weeks of Monday to Friday until Christmas. Okay, it’s weird math, but it’s MY weird math, LOL.

So, has anyone else started shopping for gifts? I’ve had three text documents saved since the beginning of last month, one for Kaitlyn, one for the boys, and one for Chris, and in each one, I make a note each time any of them say “you know what I’d like for Christmas?” Of course, Kaitlyn’s list changes pretty much daily, so anything she only mentioned once gets deleted from the list. The few things she’s mentioned over and over got bumped up to the top.

Last night I went to bed at about 11:30, and at 12:45 AM, I was still laying there wide awake. I realized that what I was thinking about was all of the people I’d like to give Christmas presents to, family as well as close friends. I was trying to think of a way that I could accomplish two goals: 1. find Cheap Christmas Gifts and 2. not have to run around to multiple stores dealing with huge crowds. What works best for me is coming up with one gift that works for everyone. So there I am at 12:45 in the morning, and I realized I had just thought of the PERFECT gift that works for everybody!

So, I jump out of bed, turn on the lamp, put on my glasses, pick up a pen off the floor, find a little notebook on my dresser, get back in bed, and start making a list of the families and friends I want to give gifts to.  I made that list, then I made a list of people to make sure to send Christmas cards to. I was done in about fifteen minutes, and when I finished, I put the pen and notebook down on my nightstand, took off my glasses, turned off the lamp, and fell sound asleep!  Apparently, all I need to be able to sleep is to write down all the thoughts swirling around in my head in a notebook!

Have you made your holiday gift list yet?  Done any shopping? Tell me in a comment what’s going on with you!

I haven’t given it to much thought yet. I don’t even want to do Christmas this year. I am just so tired of teaching my kids that Jesus coming to earth to become man to save our sorry hides is reason to spend like mad and want tons of “things.”
I enjoy parties with family and friends, and setting a day apart to remember such an amazing act of love, but this way is just so opposite of what we are celebrating.
But, I will have to cave to the pressure and spend like mad getting just the right thing for everyone we know.

I would love to know what gift you decided was great and cheap for family and friends! Always looking for ideas like that and you might just help all of us out.

For all those not prepared for Christmas, five weeks isn’t a long time.

Nope, no real gift list. No shopping. Am hoping to get a family photo this week while hubby’s in town to do holiday cards, so we shall see.
I’m just hanging on by a wing and a prayer right now (if you’ve caught my blog in the last few months, yeah).

You know, my wife and I try and do a list every year, but guess what? We always leave the shopping to the last minute. Our kids are always planned for, but we always seem to buy for the rest of the family at the last minute.

Oh and a notepad by the bed. I gave up on that a few years ago, as my wife always complained that I left the bedside light on all night.

I have loads of things swirling around in my head!

    Regards
    Damien

Elizabeth, why don’t you get everyone on your shopping list to make online wishlists? My family uses myregistry.com to manage what everyone wants and it really makes my life easier! I just wait until a few days after Thanksgiving and sit down to do all my shopping at once…ONLINE! I gave up fighting the crowds at the mall years ago and I can’t imagine going back now! The only thing I bought in an actual store so far this year is some new ornaments for the tree because a bunch of our old ones were destroyed when our basement flooded.

I like this time before Christmas – there are too many pleasant efforts! I think about presents which I will give to my relatives and friends as well as about presents which they are going to give me:)

Five weeks really isn’t that long. I am happy to have at least one person on my list finished, but that still leaves a considerable amount unfinished. Shopping for gifts can be a stressful thing, especially when you are guessing what the person wants.

I enjoyed how easy it was to order an Amazon gift card for a special friend.

I don’t want to celebrate this Christmas because I am tired from my daily work. I am just wish santa to give me rest in this Christmas holidays. I don’t want anything from him.
