Rachael Ray Nutrish just 6 Dog Food Review

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nutrish for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Our dog Elvis will pretty much eat anything. When we adopted him five years ago, he was being fed dry dog food, a brand you can find in any grocery store. He was a normal weight and healthy, so we figured we’d keep feeding him what he was used to.  I had no plans to change what we were feeding him until I received a sample of Rachael Ray Nutrish just 6 dry dog food from Nutrish through SocialSpark. When I saw his reaction to the food, I knew that as soon as the current bag is gone, I’ll be switching his food!

It doesn’t surprise me at all that Rachael Ray developed a line of dog food. I get her magazine and watch 30 Minute Meals, and she loves her dog Isaboo like a child.  What Rachael Ray did with her Nutrish line of dog food and treats is combine six simple, natural ingredients with vitamins and minerals for balanced nutrition. There is no corn, wheat, or soy in Nutrish, which is good news for owners of dogs with allergies. Yes, dogs can get allergies to foods, just like people!

Nutrish sent me a trial size bag of the just 6 Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Recipe food plus a cute feeding bowl. The six ingredients are Lamb Meal, Brown Rice, Ground Rice, Dried Beet Pulp, Poultry Fat and Natural Chicken Flavor. I’ve never bought Elvis food made from lamb, so I had no idea how he would react to the taste.  I filled up the bowl with the food, sat it down on the kitchen floor, and stood back to watch.

Elvis stepped up, took a sniff, and then started eating. And eating. And eating, until the bowl was empty and licked clean. I’d say he liked it!

I read in the dogfoodadvisor that this Rachael Ray Nutrish product contains menadione… a controversial form of vitamin K linked to liver toxicity, allergies and the abnormal break-down of red blood cells. How disappointing. Why would Rachael Ray put this in her dog food?? I would be afraid to give this to my dog. Others need to be made aware of this “ingredient.”
