Thanks to The FestiGals for the Great Gal Blog Award!

I got a nice surprise in my email today!

Congratulations! Your blog has been selected to receive the FestiGals 2011 “Great Gal Blog” award.

Since there’ve been women, women have gathered. Whether for comfort, companionship, collaboration or celebration, women have come together to share in the feminine experience. The FestiGals Women’s Weekend Getaway is dedicated to giving women a time and place to gather to focus on themselves and on each other. By extension, the FestiGals 2011 blog award was developed to recognize outstanding bloggers whose sites offer the opportunity to share, to be entertained, to learn and to grow together as women.

This is the award badge:

FestiGals Great Gal Blog Award Table for Five

That’s so nice of them! Thanks, FestiGals!

Table for Five Turns Six, Named in Top 75 Blogs Parents with Teens Should Read!

Not only was Table for Five named as one of the Top 75 Blogs Parents with Teens Should Read by Bold Earth Adventures, but it came at just the right time – it’s Table for Five’s Six Year Bloggiversary!!

I actually know that I started the blog sometime around the last week of August in 2005, but somehow in the move from Blogger to WordPress.com, I lost a couple of posts. My oldest post is dated September 1st, 2005, I wish it had a nicer title than Feeling sad and frustrated, but that was right after Hurricane Katrina and all I was doing was watching CNN and feeling, well, sad and frustrated.

Anyway, it’s my 6th Anniversary of blogging, so what a nice surprise to get an email letting me know I had been included in a Top 75 Best list!  Here’s some info about the site that gave me the award, copied from their footer:

“BOLD EARTH is a summer adventure travel camp alternative to traditional Teen Camps and Summer Teen Tours. Since 1976, BOLD EARTH has offered Adventure Travel Summer Camps for Teenagers which combine Adventure Travel with Service Work, Language Study and Wilderness Skills, on our U.S.A. Summer Camps for Teens and International Overnight Summer Camp Adventures. Check out our site for up-to-date information on all BOLD EARTH Teen Summer Camp Adventures for the best teen camp summer possible.”

Bold Earth is also about giving to charity, and they have three groups that are vying for a cash prize of $500. They are:

-The Colorado Fourteeners Initiative
-Ecuador Niños De La Calle (children of the street)
-The Amazon Conservation Project

Go here if you have an interest in any of those groups and want to cast your vote for them:  http://www.boldearth.com/Charity_Blog_Voting.php

Learn more about Bold Earth’s Youth camps and summer programs for high school, too!

So, how cool is that? My blog turns six, gets an award, gets a chance to help charity, not too shabby!  Here’s to six more years, right? :)

5. This Full House
6. Busy Mom
7. Stir The Cauldron (and not just because she gave me a Tarot reading that changed my life)

The seven of you should please grab the badge and pass it on to blogs you love!

Awesome!

I got the first “Accidental Mommy Moment” badge!

Wow, what an honor! Kim from What’s That Smell? read my post yesterday about our disastrous trip to the Mall including not having a stroller for a whiny, tired toddler and tripping over my own wedge heel sandal and falling down right in the middle of the floor, and turned it into something I can laugh about!

She said in her comment that what I had was an Accidental Mommy Moment and I replied that she should make an award badge for that, AND SHE DID!

I’m posting it proudly :P Thanks, Kim!

The Arte y Pico Award

This is the first time I’ve been the recipient of an award that began on a blog that is not written in English! It’s just so cool how global the blogosphere is, you know? Lynne from The Sewing Mom passed this award on to me, and I am honored to receive it! I had to use a Spanish to English dictionary site to translate, it means “Peak of Art”.

The Arte y Pico Award was created to be given to bloggers who inspire others with their creative energy and talent whether it’s writing or artwork in all types of media (including sewing). When you receive this award it is considered a “special honor”. Once you have received this award, you are to pass it on to at least 5 others. This award was created by the site Arte Y Pico.

I am honored that Lynne chose me as one of the five bloggers she passed this award to. She said “I award this to someone who inspires me not only as a mom, but as a fellow blogger, Elizabeth at Table For Five inspires me with her knowledge of blogging and the fact that she’ll go out of her way to help others.” Wow, thanks Lynne!

Each of the five bloggers I have chosen to give this award to can right-click and save this award image, or go to Lynne’s blog to get a much bigger version.

Photobucket

For the five bloggers I am passing this award to, I tried to choose from a wide variety of different artistic talents. There are so many terrific bloggers out there who are SO talented! Here are my nominees:

  • Thomas Laupstad publishes some of the most amazing photos I have ever seen on his blog Photos from Northern Norway: A photo blog. His most recent post shows how beautiful a field of dandelions can look!
  • My friend Drew at The BenSpark also posts great photos, in fact I like them so much, I bought his photo calendar to use in my kitchen! He has posted a photo a day since April 2005, which is a spectacular feat in itself.
  • My friend Lisa at Lisa Reviews inspires me with how hard she works on all of her blogs. She does a great job of balancing personal posts and sponsored reviews, plus she has taught me some blogging tips that have had massive impact on my blogs. She is a Top Mom Review Blogger for a reason!
  • Lori at My Wooden Spoon is one of my favorite food bloggers! She posts absolutely yummy looking recipes, plus she does great giveaways, too. She is in second place in the Blogger’s Choice Awards for Best Food Blog, why not go over there and give her a vote? :)
  • Val at Fun, Crafts, and Recipes does a terrific job of combining daily recipe posts, ideas for fun crafts, plus the popular Four Foods on Friday meme that brings lots of readers to my food blog (thanks Val!) Val also has SEVEN other blogs on different topics-she is definitely a true blog artist!

I hope each of my five nominees has as much fun passing on this award as I did!
