This is how desperate I have become, people. In order to get my lazy ass on the treadmill, I am putting this badge in my sidebar, which I found on Trying to Catch Up:

Now, I know I do a lot of posting every day, and I have resolved myself to the idea that I’m not going to get a lot of comments on every post. And that’s fine. Although I do think that the good people who send me the stacks of DVDs and books and cleaning products and other great things I get for reviews would be thrilled if the posts did get comments once in a while
BUT, I know not everyone is going to comment every time, and I know we are all in different time zones, so here’s how this is going to work: 7:00 PM will be the starting and ending time. Leave me a comment on any post on ANY OF MY THREE BLOGS any time between 7:00 PM one day and 7:00 PM the next day, and I will walk on my treadmill for one minute. So, if you comment here, and on MomReviews, and on MomCooks, that’s THREE MINUTES I will owe you on the treadmill, and so on. All you have to do is come here, and then the links to the other blogs are right there in my left sidebar under “My Other Blogs”-easy peasy!
And, if you really want to help me get my ass in gear, feel free to go through the archives and comment on older posts, too. Anything you want to say on any post is fine. But please, for the love of god, don’t spam me. I’m appreciative of real comments, but I’ve been getting a lot of “comments” that are the email address and URL of another website. No thank you.
So get to commenting, and I’ll get to moving! You’ll be commenting my ass off! HEH!

I got a postcard in the mail today from my friend Mr. Fabulous, and when the mail carrier handed it to me at the door, she said “wow! a postcard! you don’t see those very often anymore.” And she’s right, people don’t send postcards like they used to, if a friend or family member goes on vacation, you’re more likely to get an email. So now I’m thinking it would be fun to follow in Mr. Fab’s footsteps and start sending postcards to my friends! What do you guys think about that? Would you be interested in a postcard exchange?
I know I can buy postcards in a couple of stores in downtown Lansing; we have a chain of stores called Michigania that sell all kinds of Michigan-made products and I know they have postcards, but what would be even more fun would be to use something like VistaPrint’s postcard printing site to make my own. VistaPrint is really cool, you can upload your own design or pick from hundreds of their designs, and 100 postcards with color on the front and black and white on the back is only $24.99. That’s a pretty good deal. You can pay VistaPrint an extra fee and they will personalize, address, and mail your postcards for you, or send you envelopes to send them yourself. I’m really liking this idea! Let’s do a postcard exchange! Who’s interested?

I apologize to anyone who tried to read my blog today, my hosting company got hit with a MySQL attack and a whole bunch of blogs have been having problems for the last few days, including mine. Sometimes I would log in and see nothing but my header-yikes! But I’m back up and running now, and I have a few exciting things to tell you.
The first is that I am participating in a campaign with Parent Bloggers Network to promote a great site called Vocalpoint. Vocalpoint is an exciting new marketing concept from Proctor & Gamble that helps companies develop the kinds of products that Moms are interested in using. When you become a Vocalpoint member, you get access to inside information about new products, discounts, and even free samples, sent to you online and to your home. I received a free sample of the Tide-to-Go stain removal pen, and some fabric to stain and then clean with the pen, and then I went back to the site and left my information and a brief statement about my results. It feels great to know that companies really want to know what I think about their products! You can join Vocalpoint by clicking the badge in my sidebar, it’s easy, it’s fun, and I get a little credit for referring you
So clickety click, people!
Secondly, I got a comment today, from the lovely Polliwog, telling me that she has given me an award! A new award, even, one of two created by Bob of Bobbarama and designed by Mike of Ordinary Folk. It’s called the Breakout Blogger award, and it “casts a spotlight on bloggers who are just beginning to draw lotsa attention — the equivalent of a song with a bullet on Billboard’s Top 100 chart. Lotsa good posts. Lotsa good buzz. These bloggers are going places in a hurry.” Well GOSH, Paula, thank you!
And now, I get to award the Breakout Blogger to some deserving people. In fact, I’m going to give them all TWO awards, because that’s just how generous I feel today. Their first award is the Breakout Blogger, which looks like this:
Each person I give this award to needs to go to Bobbarama’s site and grab the badge code. Don’t grab it from me, because the button links to the awards page and the blogroll of recipients. So GO HERE to get the badge code, please.
The second award you are each getting is my very own “Elizabeth thinks I ROCK” award. I know on some sidebars it is kind of big, so if you need to upload it to photoshop or photobucket and resize it to fit your site, it won’t hurt my feelings, I promise. Just right-click on the graphic and save it to your computer first
It looks like this:
And now, for my recipients:
1. Paula at Polliwog’s Pond gets the Elizabeth thinks I ROCK award, because giving me an award? That ROCKS.
2.Kate from I Think, Therefore I Blog, and Electric Venom, and Queen of Snark, and Chubby Mommy gets both awards-Kate is the very definition of “lotsa good posts, lotsa good buzz”! If you aren’t reading at least one of her blogs, you are missing out. You ROCK, Kate!
3. Sara from Suburban Oblivion is definitely a Breakout Blogger! And, she’s creating “lotsa buzz” over at cre8buzz.com
AND, she definitely rocks for taking on Bill Maher and his asshat comments about breastfeeding Mothers, and getting the Mommybloggers talking about it.Bill, you do NOT want to piss off Sara and the rest of the gang, trust me. So Sara? You get both awards!
I’ll probably keep adding to this list, because there are so many bloggers who deserve all the recognition they can get. And so many more of you who ROCK. So stay tuned!

Many of you are new readers since this time last year, so you might not have read the post I wrote about Ryan’s art class assignment from June, 2006 and how he created an amazing tribute to September 11th without really meaning to. You see, his art teacher had been teaching them about Japanese art, and about Haiku, and how traditionally, Haikus are about seasons. The art class assignment was to make up a Haiku about their favorite season, using words that reminded them of that season, and illustrate it.
This was Ryan’s:

On the left, the Haiku:
Time to rake the leaves
Time to remember the brave
Red, yellow, and brown.
I was stunned. Remember, this was the end of THIRD GRADE for him. He was five on 9/11, and I talked a lot to him about what had happened because it was on every TV channel and he was curious. What amazes me about this Haiku was the unintentional double meaning-the “Red, yellow, and brown” can refer both to the colors of the leaves and to the multi-nationality of the victims of the attack, AND to the multi-nationality of the firefighters and other rescue and service personnel that worked so hard for so many days to look for victims and restore the city to some sort of normalcy, AND to the multi-nationality of the brave soldiers who are keeping our country safe. (I don’t want to have a war argument. Every soldier that has been sent to Iraq or Afghanistan is brave in my eyes.)
And now, a remembrance. New bloggers might not have come across the posts that 2,996 bloggers wrote last year as part of a huge project to remember every victim of the September 11th attack. Every person on every plane including the flight crews, every person identified as having been in one of the World Trade Center buildings who died, and then other tributes were added to the original list to include police, firefighters and military personnel who also died that day or after. The final list for 2006 has three thousand, two hundred and seventy seven people. I hope you will take some time to look through it.
However, there are people on the original list that did not have a blogger tribute last year. One of those people is Luis Clodoaldo Revilla-Mier. I found his page on Legacy.com, and I would like to honor him here.
Luis Clodoaldo Revilla - Mier
World Trade Center

Luis Clodoaldo Revilla Mier was born on August 19, 1947. He was 54 years old. He lived at 1074 Mile Square Rd, Yonkers, N.Y. 10704. He worked for Washington Group International Inc, as a Computer Designer Level III, for 26 years, at Two World Trade Center Building, 91st floor. Luis is survived by his wife, Nancy Revilla.
I am so sorry to Mrs. Revilla on the loss of her husband, and to his family as well. I don’t think this will ever stop being a sad day for me, but I can’t possibly understand how someone like Mrs. Revilla feels today. My heart goes out to her.
