Table for Five

Taking it One Day at a Time since 1996

Just another Manic Monday

I had one of those weekends where both Saturday and Sunday seemed to go by so quickly that it barely felt like they were each made up of 24 hours. I got very little work done around the house, and now I’m sitting here, list of deadlines in front of me, looking around at the piles of stuff everywhere that need my attention, and feeling like I need to split myself half in order to get it all done!

My husband left at oh-GOD-it’s-early-45 this morning to catch a plane to Edison, New Jersey where he will be working for the next three days. He’s done on Thursday and is hoping to hop a train into New York for the day. He loves New York but every time he gets to go it’s always such a brief visit. We have been getting along really well lately and are going to miss each other a lot. Kaitlyn keeps saying “Daddy fwying on an aiw-pwane!”

So, if you are just joining us, I’d like to recap again some of the big things that are going on here right now:

  • You have until tomorrow, April 8th at 9 AM Eastern to enter the $200 American Express Gift Card giveaway I’m having! Please take a minute to visit the sponsor website http://tuitionbids.com, then go to THIS POST to leave your comment and be entered to win.
  • If you have any dollar amount to spare, I have joined bloggers Caffeinated Elf, Karen Sugarpants and MissAnnThrope in raising money to help blogger Lisa from Clusterfook. She has beaten cancer twice but now that bitch is back. Lisa would like to take her kids to DisneyWorld, and we want to help! Please visit THIS POST and look for the PayPal donation button. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can still donate using a credit card. We want to give Lisa and her girls a wonderful Disney vacation, and every little bit helps.
  • Regular readers will know that one thing I look forward to every year is the BlogHer blogging conference, and I was saving money and donations to go, until our furnace broke and wiped out my savings account. BlogHer has announced a contest to give away a free conference pass, airfare and hotel, and I am asking for your help to win! On THIS POST, I have a link to the “Who’s your BlogHer Hero?” contest-if you think I demonstrate Passion, Innovation, and the Ability to Inspire a Community, please enter me to win. Use email address elizabeth@table4five.net, and my full name is Elizabeth Edwards. The contest is open until May 31st. Nominations are GREATLY appreciated!
  • And finally, if you or someone you know could use a baby sling, I’m giving away a Scootababy. Read all about what a Scootababy is and enter to win one before this Friday, April 11th by visiting THIS POST.

WHEW! And you should see my list of posts I need to write, like, YESTERDAY. It’s never a dull moment around here, that’s for sure. I’ve also got some cute photos from the weekend that I’ll get up on Flickr, a giveaway ending on MomReviews, and recipes for MomCooks, so now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m pouring myself another flagon of coffee and getting down to work!

Today is the first day of Spring Break for my kids. Which means that Kaitlyn woke up at 7:15, she stands up in her crib and calls out “Open. Open. Ohhhh-pen” until someone goes to get her. And the boys actually slept in, the bums. So I got up, made a pot of coffee, whipped up boxed pancake mix, and started my day. I’ve written so many posts over the last few days, I want to recap what’s been going on for readers that are just now joining us:

1. A sponsor is giving away a $200 American Express gift card to be used for college expenses, it’s NOT an April Fool’s Day joke, here’s the link to the post.

2. I am collecting donations to be given to another blogger who is dealing with her third bout of cancer, and wants to take her girls to DisneyWorld. The PayPal donation button in the post goes directly to the fundraising page, she will get 100 % of what is raised, and if you don’t have a PayPal account, you can still click the Donate button and use a credit card. Here’s the link to that post.

3. We had an unexpected furnace repair that cost (after disputing the charges) $518, and I had to use the money I was saving to pay for BlogHer. Yesterday, BlogHer announced a contest, the winner gets free roundtrip airfare, conference pass, and two days’ accomodation. It’s pretty much my only chance to go. I need to be nominated by people who think I demonstrate “passion, innovation, and the ability to inspire a community”. If you want to nominate me, I hope you know how grateful I would be. Here’s the link to the nomination page, you do not have to sign up for the Blogher website to nominate someone.

If you haven’t visited those three posts yet, I would sure appreciate you taking the time. Like a commenter said, I think of us as a community, as a family. Any of you can count on me for anything I have to give, any time. Thanks for spending some time reading this today!
