Win a $100 Lands End Gift Card!

This giveaway is closed. I used random.org to choose the winner:

Lands End Winner

Congratulations to commenter #49, Carol Dziuba! Carol, check your email for a message from me! And thank you so much everyone who entered.

I’ve been lucky to be able to try out several of Lands End products, and I love each and every one of them. Lands Ends is brand that really understands us women, and they truly try and figure out what actually looks good on us. You have to love a company like that! They recently sent a swimsuit for me to try out, and I have to admit that I am amazed. I have been buying swimsuits for years (we won’t say how many). It is a hard to find a swimsuit that actually fits. If you are a size two, you have no problems. If you are a woman with an actual figure, well, it tends to be much harder.

However, this isn’t so with the Lands End swimsuits. All I had to do was go to their site, find a swimsuit I liked (which is actually hard since there are so many great ones to choose from), and enter my measurements (and they tell you exactly where and what to measure). They had great designs to choose from, and it didn’t matter if you were a size 2 or a size 22. What amazed me the most was that the suit not only fit, but made me look better! What woman doesn’t love that? Since we have a few weeks of summer left, I want one of you to look and feel as wonderful as I do in one of Lands End swimsuits!

GIVEAWAY: I have a $100 Lands End gift card to give to one lucky winner, to use towards a new swimsuit or any other wonderful Lands End product!

WIN IT:  For your main entry, visit the Lands End site and browse around, then come back here and leave a comment  telling me which swimsuit you’d like to get. Enter by August 28th, Open to U.S. only, no P.O. boxes.

Get CampusReady With Sears

edited to add: I totally forgot to tell you about the contest! – College tuition costs continue to rise. Enter for your chance to win money toward your child’s college tuition from Sears and Upromise! A total of $25,000 will be awarded. Upromise members are automatically entered with a sears.com purchase through Upromise.com, or enter free at sears.com/campusready. See sears.com/campusready for full rules and complete details.

This post was sponsored by Sears. All the opinions are mine.

It’s hard enough for me to think about sending my kids to school for the day let alone think about sending them off to COLLEGE. Where they will LIVE. Without ME. Waahhh! My parents packed me up for my first year of college with an electric typewriter that we honestly bought AT SEARS, I remember being so excited because it had a BACKSPACE/DELETE key. No more dabbing wite-out on my typos! If you are getting ready to deliver your precious baby to college, this post is for you.

Sears has a whole section of their website devoted to helping students get CampusReady with everything, and I mean EVERYTHING a college student will need before they head off to school. Parents and students can shop the site using these easy categories:

* Shop by dorm room-choose from coordinated looks like “Vintage Chic”
* Suite of coordinating dorm room products and design ideas- how to work dorm basics like a mini fridge into the design
* Shopping checklist- These are AWESOME. Everything from cleaning and bathroom supplies to power cords and printer paper. Just find the list you need and check things off as you go.
* List of everything your child will need for their first home away from home- Eating, Sleeping, Playing and of course Studying-it’s all covered!
* Financial tips- Tips for budgeting so your student still has food money left before the term or semester ends!
* Financial planning tips- Managing credit, planning ahead
* Apparel must haves- this links to the Young Men’s and Juniors sections of the Sears.com website. Which is helpful but many college-age guys are already wearing Men’s sizes, so you may have to click around.
* Links to categories of clothing they’ll need for college life- Tees, Jeans, comfy shoes, layers for cool weather, packing for college means taking a lot of clothes!

The CampusReady App on Facebook has more great ways to get your student ready to go. They can create a “Gift Getter” list that family and friends can then purchase for them, design their dorm room in 3-D to see how it will look from all angles, and take a roommate match-up quiz.

Whatever you are doing to get your student ready for college, check out the links I’ve posted to Sears CampusReady. I think it can really help you get everything organized and get your son or daughter ready for back to school!

Just Say No to the Romper-Cute Maternity Clothes

I’m glad there are so few photos of me from when I was pregnant with Ryan, because they would have revealed just how hideous Maternity Clothes were in 1996. I was working at the Credit Union then and we had a pretty formal dress code, so off I went to the chain maternity clothing store at the mall, and do you know what they had for “dressy” outfits? ROMPERS. If you aren’t familiar with it, a romper is a one-piece outfit sort of like a dress but that ends in shorts, and it buttons down the front. Which means every time I had to pee, I had to unbutton it and slide the whole thing down around my ankles. It was NOT pretty, let me tell you.

Now, we are done having kids for sure, so I’m not looking at this for myself, but for those of you readers who are or will be pregnant, and you’re wondering what clothing there is out there that you can wear to work or other dressy occasions, check out the Maternity Dresses sold at Belly Dance Maternity. They carry wrap dresses that can be worn while nursing, tunics that can work either as a top or a dress, and designers include Japanese Weekend and Liz Lange.

Oh, and you know what else wasn’t available when I was pregnant in 1996? Couture maternity! Now that it seems to be *cool* for celebrities to get pregnant, all kinds of clothing designers are coming out with maternity wear. Hot jeans designer Chip and Pepper makes great maternity jeans, and you can even get a maternity velour tracksuit from, you guessed it, Juicy Couture Maternity! If this is your first pregnancy and you aren’t sure what to expect as far as clothing goes, check out this great article on Chic Maternity Wear from AOL. Trust me, you won’t find ANY suggestions that involve wearing a romper.
